Durable consumer good
Without being disciplined, I tried to bid to Yahoo Auction and I could obtain RMC Tokina 100-300/f5 zoom lens at 280 yen unexpectedly, successful bid yesterday and disassembling now today from a distance of 1,000km, how quickly the affair proceeds with surprise!
Though some white covering was observed in the original condition, almost of the inconvenience was removed after cleaning the front surface and rear face of the rear module. Though a light purple fringe is seen if in 300mm side at infinity position is focused, this disadvantage could be at ignorable revel, this tendency is often the case at that produced generation, meets in acceptable revel.
Rear module was relatively easy to be cleaned, but front one is not so easy task, glue fixed small screws must be loosened by distilling Acetone promptly, complicated and troublesome procedures are waiting if a perfect lens cleaning is desired, probably I'll do that in very near future. The designing of this zoom lens might be thought as heavier and bulky for ordinary amateur photographers, probably this is why this one has no historical mark to be used hard in sever condition, actually looks new.
No engineering plastic integrally molded part is observed and it means this product is not disposable at all, good maintenance will survive this industrial product like new one. Consequently, I prefer relatively old product based on thought as durable consumer good, to that based on disposable idea.
