Praying for SUBARU

Only SUBARU can produce far lower bonnet designing because of low height profile Flat Boxer motor, I wonder why so fat faced designing are invited in spite of having biggest advantage in the appearance.
Don't follow another automobile's nowadays designing, so stout like ugly swine.

Why are you afraid of being independent, why are you follow with another car maker's and why are you afraid of Freedom?
Your grand father made Nakajima Aircraft Factory in Japan and they were the Priority Bombing Targets while the WW2 in the Pacific Ocean Front?

The roots of SUBARU are completely different from another Japanese automobile production companies?
I propose that you had better take pride in yourself and produce your own products of yourself, by yourself and for yourself!

Validity for 4WD

The SUBARU 4WD concept had been based on the performance when used in severe condition like snowy, heavily rainy, muddy and slippy, hi-angled steep up and down and windy climate.

ATF exchanged

Changing the fuel into Shell Pura 100 brought great progress in adjusting Solex 34PICT3 carburetor in VW 1302 Super Beetle, obtaining ultimate performances, stability in every RPM, transients in every phase and power in combination with torque properties.
Starting problem disappeared after adjusting the angular position of automatic thermal choke module.

The inconvenience that XH200 OPEL B-Vectra had was eliminated thoroughly by the additional poring of D2 TOYOTA Genuine ATF with 1,2L amount. All the moving parts are well under control in comforts.

The clicking noise on DOJ and DIG of drive shaft started again in NCP10 TOYOTA Vitz again, the noise sauce is not leading to the destruction of the joint construction, but some gentle and small noise just because of too much gaps due to misconfiguration of excessive tolerance.
The noise problem like this may be ignored as the acceptable moving mechanical noises.

Suppose it happened on ATX tower desk top computer, any alternative CPU fan part may be applicable in junk box, no? This is why I do not regard the Note PC as my own favorite devise from the beginning.

ATF checked

Very beginning stage of cold starting in the morning, the starting attitude is strange, stumbling and hesitating phenomena in second and third gear also the neutral control shows stumbling a little.

This phenomena continues very beginning stage from the initial condition and after a while the strange attitude disappears according to the heat up of ATF, the volume increases by thermal volume expansion.

As I supposed the quire reaction of Aishin 4 speed trans-axle with neutral control system design disappeared just after applying additional ATF to 1,2L more. Newly added D2 Castle TOYOTA genuine ATF fairly obtained the originally natural gear shifting in a sophisticated manners.

The lack of ATF amount caused unpredictable trouble, the criminal of this affair was simply myself that mistook the way to measure and to ascertain the level gauge marking in motor rotating and warm condition. The layman like myself continues studying much in every basic experience.

As for NCP10 TOYOTA Vitz, ATF volume was just a bit less but within the tolerance with no problem would happen in future and on BC7 SUBARU Legacy LSi US model the level gauge showed much enough, may be too much?

The reason why the gear shifting by JATCO automatic 4 speed trans-axle isn't always so smooth as desired especially on the phase of shifting from second gear to third one.
The reconfirm on the ATF amount in BC7 Legacy must be performed again by reducing volume by extracting from a drain plug on the oil pan.

Came back home wth success

Now came back I from Kobe, Legal Inspection Test of a automobile, Volvo S40 T5, with a failure once because of right head light direction.

This is caused by my careless mistake as a layman not a professional, the right low beam does not put off when high beam was turned on, so the light cutting shape on the low beam with left side higher oblique direction that's positioning just right side of the right high beam lamp. Simply covering the right low beam lamp could pass the inspection by the machinery.

Though the anti-skid system was put off, keeping the 40km speed on the roller machine was difficult and being the task requiring the concentration on the toe muscles right side.
The reason was the phenomena that the gear actions, unpredictably changes the automatic trans-axle performances.

The sense of pop felt on the every initial starting phase on Volvo T5 is not acceptable for me.

NVH is adequate and tasting of Volvo ride a bit but different from an ancient setting like 244 GL and 740 F/R models.

ATF checking tasks are waiting this after noon in my private pit in Villa.

Legal Inspection today

Today I'm going to bring my friend's Volvo S40 to Hyogo Land Transport Office in Kobe for Legal Inspection Test reserved previously.
I hope the rubber parts to be checked should not be broken, drive shaft boots, ball joint boots and steering ruck cover boots. In addition all the light bulb should not be worn.

Before proceeding to the inspection line, bare in mind that the switch of Traction Control system must be turned off, otherwise I would be at a loss with my brain in white colored, because the speed meter test would be failed, the control system inhibits to accelerate the vehicle's speed below at 40km/h according to the own safety program.

To tell the truth some fascinating pretty girl is sitting at the the sales of official doccuments, I'm always looking forward to seeing her for a moment. She also treats me more politely with smile than does to others, though the opportunities are 3 to 4 times a year.

This after noon is occupied by the ATF checking tasks on XH200 OPEL B-Vectra and NCP10 TOYOTA Vitz, because the oil level checking was performed while the motor had been stopped by mistake, so the amount of ATF in the pans are not enough, lacking 1 to 1,5 litter.

The oil amount checking must be performed while the motor is on, oil temperature is high enough over 80 degree celsius at high temp. level marking, bare in mind. D2 oil for Vectra Aishin automatic trans-axle and T4 recent low viscoelasticity oil for Super Intelligent E-4AT automatic trans-axle in Vitz.

Removing of perimeter weeds and bitches of Vila must be done that's left undone for long time. I must do the task before getting tired as usual bad habit.

Cleaning effect by Shell Pura100

As an experiment Shell Pura 100 fuel is now in the fuel tank of VW 1302 Super Beetle with 1600cc flat 4 air-cooled motor.
Though the required octane is 90 as a regular fuel, specially included cleaning material taking effect and the performance of the motor becoming better and better day by day, I may continue this 100 octane fuel not as a temporal attempt bur as a permanent use?

Almost 150,000km used BC7 SUBARU Legacy LSi US model's motor EJ22 might have any problem on the deposition of foreign material, carbon, sludge and vanish? So, the introduction of Pura 100 fuel may cause some improvement in combustion? I hope the result on the experiment.

The smaller motor may take effect apparently, so the same experiment would be interesting on 2NZ-FE TOYOTA motor in NCP10 Vitz?

As for B-Vectra and Altezza, they were give for high octane fuel by the maker's factory.

The comfort by the good combustion high octane fuel is superior to regular one, the same thing is said on passenger's automobile as well as model 10cc airplane 2 cycled motor.
High quality fuel never does harm on any motor, but low octane one invites unpredictable problems, causing rust in the worst.

The cheaper priced Shell Gas stand was found on the way to my working place, High octane Pura is soled at 136yen/L!

Maintenance & Legal Inspection

As the important datum in PC is restored in externally connected 2,5 inch HDD through USB port, formatting and re-installing the OS is not so unacceptable task for me, more better to do that because the unnecessary files unforgettable stacking for long time would be eliminated thoroughly.

Ill ATF level

As I doubted the checking ATF level after arriving my working place proved I had made mistake when I did oil change by myself in special way. Just I checked the level gauge when the motor stopped in stead of decided way to do while the oil pressure lines alive with motor rotation.

About 20mm lower point shows the level lacking 1 litter. This mistaking may not break the important AISHIN automatic trans-axle immediately, it's better to add 1 more litter of ATF D2 grade.

Thinking about the ATF, on NCP10 TOYOTA Vitz also performed the ATF changing lust year? The specified ATF was the recent sophisticated one, T4 so I remember?

Check out again on both Automatic Trans-axle Fluid amounts, while the case is hot enough, motor running with actuating oil pressure lines and check gauge drawing "Hot level".


Today I went to Model Airplane shop at Noe Takadono in Asahi-ku, "Osaka Model Center" 30 years later since lust visiting.

The attitude is quicker and lighter if I reduce the body weight, but remember here that the stronger and vigorous body power and wills are disappears together. My face looks pale and like a older geriatric on earth, how come?

Two models with Flat4 motor

Replacement of fuel from Regular to Shell Pura 100 has made it possible to adjust the carburetor Solex 34PICT3 more easily and more certainly in VW 1302 Super Beetle.

The bypass screw was closed about 120 degree, volume control screw opened 90 degree and automatic choke module moved to more effective direction, counter clockwise 30 degree.
The motor sound of combustion is awfully good and stable in every speed with good transitions.

About the test driving yesterday with 2WD modification on BC7 SUBARU Legacy LSi US model, no other worse tendency was found if driven without rear traction all the time.

Above all, the improvement in steering actions and stability in both straight running and turning curvatures.
All the time while driving felt I some reduction of friction loss caused by rear traction for a long time. Probably the improvement in fuel consumption would be observed.

BC7 had been modified in axle construction, GC8 WRX model's axle construction is transplanted including arm bushes, motor mount, differential gear box mount and trans-axle mount. Though turbo model as Impreza was, the body weight was almost the same.

No other specific modification was not required, because the dimensions, parts were almost the same except the wheel base 60mm shorter differences, this fact makes it easy to modify the old BC model with GC8 model's interchangeable parts.

The countermeasure for kicking noise from inside of left door on Beetle was performed by applying rubber insulator on the frontal tip of window regulator, channel guide rail was also lubricated. The resistance of window grass handle became so light like nothing.

The carpet application with the material obtained on Thursday would make the cabin more shinny.
Very gradual but actually the 40 years Super Lady is becoming younger and younger.

Attempt on 4WD to 2WD

As an experimental attempt I went for road test driving today on BC7 SUBARU Legacy LSi US model under the unusual condition of Front Wheel Drive only by shortening the electric clutch circuitry situating the rear part of automatic trans-axle.

According to getting accustomed to the construction of an automobile gradually, I could come to be capable to maintain almost of maintenance schedules by myself except a motor and trans-axle taking down works.

Uncountable trials were attempted to create the measuring devices for toe and camber scaling with repeatability in addition to seeking and deciding the unmovable scaling null measuring initial points.

4WD necessary?

SUBARU Active Torque Split Automatic Trans-Axle is capable to cut off the clutch to transmit the torque to propeller shaft by shortening the electric actuator circuitry, so even possible while running. In short we can on and off the rear traction while driving.

Frontal 2 wheel traction is the advantage to establish the stability while straight running. Rear drive construction is inferior to F/F designing and the 4 wheel drive is the worst if compared only on the straight forward stability.

The deeper consideration on drive trains leads us to the conclusion that 4 wheel driving axle design is not always necessary for ordinal passenger's if the climate is moderate and the circumstantial condition were normal ones.

Because additional another driving system designing invites the physical increase of body weight about 100kg, transmitting coupler clutch, propeller shaft, differential gear box and drive shaft with DIJ and DOJ on both sides.

This heavy weight increase causes inevitable disadvantages in every movement following the principle of the Law of inertia. No advantage exists except the misunderstanding of dull movement instead of comfort ride.

The main intention for inviting this fuel is the special capability in cleaning effects on fuel line and motor inside construction including combustion cylinder.
I'm going to continue this fuel for the time being.

Accelerating pedal hinge pin moves inside while using, the reason is breakage of returning spring, I now. Some countermeasure must be considered for this common defect of Beetle.

Insulating carpet material for wheel house inside of cabin has obtained in beige color the day before yesterday, cutting and gluing work is waiting for me. NVH would be far improved after repairing, because of terrible smell once the material was peeled away and left as it was without repairing.

To Tachikui





We visited Tachikui Ceramic and Porcelain Museum with our friend yesterday. The special event for German Meissen Exhibition has been held there.

Beautiful and transparent quality should be evaluated on earth, though it's apparent that the products were all based on plagiarism from ancient Chinese and Japanese pottery technologies, of course there must be some their own inventions at that time in the castle of Meissen.

We were in danger to be involved in some traffic accident on the way back from Tachikui.
The former car was about to turn to the right, but with the direction to the left making a bigger circle, but the sunset shinny sun light was coming from right rear oblique direction, so the turning signal flasher was not recognized by our driver.

Then our car tried to pass through the former going car that running left side along the left edge of the road, suddenly it started to turn right!
It was so lucky to have avoided the collision by a panic stop braking!

We realized that the accident happens when some misunderstanding exists in addition to specific natural climate condition.

Stabilizer in Beetle's IRS


Modification on stabilizer in swing axle Beetle into IRS model like 1302 and 1303 occupies my brain cortex all the time, because I must construct the stabilizer system on my Super Beetle intending the improvement of stability when turning circles.

Judging from the information from two photos from Web site, problem exist on the linkage lower support that Super Beetle doesn't have at all, no supporting bracket nor bolt holes for it on the posterior portion of arm construction.
Some measurement and conformity with the actual object will solve the problem and the applications would succeeded in a beautiful fitting, so I hope.

There are many kind of linkage rod with ball links on both side but different vector directions, in the market as a genuine parts of some automobiles, selecting and choosing procedure I do enjoy it.

But remember here that the linking the rear axle construction on both side means inevitable reduction of compliance, leading to some deterioration in ride quality.
As naturally explained, lost compliance lost by any modification must be compensated on any point in the way of propagation of NVH.

Air compressor & lead battery


A special connecting hose tool is prepared for combining two compressors, an one touch connector with two way dividing construction tool and 1m hose with attachments on both side are construction.

The reason why I had been planning this is the two small compressors equipped in the corner of garage pit, the tank capacity would be doubled if the tanks were connected by some air way?

The larger the tank capacity becomes the more stable the air tool performances would be improved if my planning would come true? And the electric wiring are connected for both of them, the recovery time would be saved?

Though the parts obtained yesterday were relatively expensive, the stress and frustration I have been experienced when high power air tools were used would be eliminated thoroughly?

The time is come to give additional lead battery charging on XH200 OPEL B-Vectra, some dark current may exist or the lack of charging capability on Bocsh alternator 120A?
I don't know why the phenomena lack of charging supply occurrs in spite of relatively big volume charging capability with 120A?

Once B-Vectra's car battery was re-burdened in BC7 SUBARU Legacy LSi US model, that had been deserted because of the reason, lack of storage volume(capacity) and lower electrolyte specific gravity.

Over 2 years have passed since that battery converting experiment, even now the ruined battery is in healthy condition also regaining the electrolyte specific gravity.
This experiment proved that the battery can survive if the treatment after the critical stage was adequately performed the ruined car battery often awakes again and continues it's life much more period of time.

The word mentioned here "adequately" means the procedure for de-sulfation on the surface of the terminal were performed in the correct manners.

Ceramic porcelain art

The museum of ceramic and porcelain art, Hyogo, we are visiting there tomorrow situating along the local side road, it would be very seldom to be visited by chance.
The firs time for me to run the road to west side from The Station Furuichi, we would tune right if we come from Northern direction along on The Route 372 to R176, Kami Tachikui is the residence of the Museum.

But remember here, the highway through central land running is under heavy re-construction with some terrible congestion all day long. We would be obliged to take mountain side narrower country roads.

Lubrication

To continue the ultimate performance on an internal combustion engine is good lubrication under suitable burning condition, do not change the lubricating condition also the petroleum company, the same concept is applied on the motor oil from the beginning till it ends.

Try to perform the motor under the same circumstantial condition all the time.
Never change the motor oil at any gas station, use only genuine motor oil, because the factory engineers had been trying the meeting with the motor after several experimental tests to prove giving the genuine tag.

Motor oil including another lubricant for trans-axle, differential gear are like a blood for each organs, so mismatching would immediately lead to the malfunctions sometimes to the destruction to void.

There exist some newer materials in the market with attractive level and boasting, never be moved whatever may happen, keep no changing from the original one if no problems has not been occurred.

Again put I an emphasis on the point that any other material should not be invited except genuine parts if the condition now is favorable.
No fish seller sells with saying it is bad.

Healthy all

The automobiles I'm keeping are all in good condition, though some room for much more sophistication are left in every one.

As for VW 1302 Super Beetle, removed carpet because of terrible musty smell are necessary to prevent the noise and vibration from the ground, NVH establishment is required.
Precise scaling and adjustment of wheel alignment is necessary, now I feel right side habit when acceleration meaning minus thrust angle. Provisional judging is left side repositioning of left strut and lower arm out side direction by cam adjuster rotation would be performed.

BC7 SUBARU Legacy LSi US model needs rear wheel alignment this time, for the frontal alignment and geometry were firmly adjusted. Rear camber scaling in addition to wheel base rechecking, thrust angle must be set precisely at Zero degree, realizing me on the accuracy especially on all wheel drive model.

Careful observation on the steering reaction shows the continuous change of habit because the rear traction affects on the steering direction.
So, the accuracy of wheel adjustment far exceeds that of 2 wheel drive model.
I'm surprised the the importance that I put an emphasis on is not reported before nowhere else?
There is no way for any arguments because the switching on and off of F/R connecting electric clutch could easily prove the fact on earth?

Hatred on Jewish Babylon Search

As Babylon search sticks like glue to Windows operation system once it comes in, I made up my mind to re-install the OS. Datum were back-upped so no problem.
The driver for video card is now under searching, but soon it would be found in some Web site.

Though I have some intimate friend from Israel, my perception on Israel has changed not a little, because the Spybot Babylon Search is from the Jewish country on earth!

Anyway my computer system recovered like before today.

Sway bar introduction for IRS



Genuine rear sway bar for VW Beetle was obtained from YaHoo Auction today, though my 1302 Super Beetle has no rear sway bar as the original design, the hole and mounting fixed bolts are prepared as shown in the photo.

But remember here, this sway bar is only for the swing axle designing not for IRS design.
Probably some desperate efforts may be required to fit on IRS designed model. Judging from the photographs, fixation of sway bar is no problem but the link support bracket must be arranged, somehow utilizing ball joint stabilizer link for another automobile.

Anyway fitting actually on my Beetle would find out the means of escape and establishment of linking function of rear stabilizer on VW 1302 Super Beetle. The report would be interesting.

Future designing

Some revolution would occur in the beginning of next year. Working laboratory would move to another place, no matter how I may insist to stay at the same place, the authorities would oblige to do that in the name of good cause of Station Development.

As for myself, I'm continue this job for about 10 years more if my health condition might permit in future?

Also it is not clear that my son would follow after me or he will prepare his own working place independently at another place.

Though have I some back pain lasting for three weeks, I wanna do some relatively hard working, suspension coil spring & shock absorber replacement on BC7 SUBARU Legacy LSi US model in very near future. The main purpose of this hard work is rising up the body height to the originally designed condition to reproduce the factory designed performances.

Now the axle is reconstructed utilizing those of GC8 SUBARU Impreza WRX Turbo model, with 35mm height reduction.
Too hard setting for me to continue in future.

How is the alignment on 1302?

Wheel alignment and axle geometric construction on WV 1302 Super Beetle must be deeply considered really hard now.
Careful inspection of the constructive designing on Super Beetle led me to some conclusion that the wheel base setting must be performed first on this special Beetle, because the adjusting the rear trailing arm for toe direction independently invites the change of wheel base length finally.

So, the wheel base setting at same value right and left should be established first under the condition with being considered taking into the value of total toe. Remember here that the total toe direction, yes, thrust angle cannot be adjusted on this stage on rear axle construction with wheel alignment, because the wheel base length is dictated by the fixed rear trailing arm length adjustments.

Then how shall we establish the direction of rear total toe vector?

The only way left to do that is moving frontal strut upper mount laterally and lower arm adjustment in combination with the strut lateral movement.
Of course, tie rod length adjustment would be naturally invited at this stage.

Precision requiring adjustment like this needs concentration and keen & acute sensitivity on earth, in very near future this idea would be tried on my Super Beetle and resulting ---the steering reactions and stability would be very----? The future report would be awfully excited on earth!

Curiosities

New Lithium battery was invented by some institute group in OSAKA National University researching, the capacitance became twice but the re-chargeable reduction to 30% after 100 times repeating. The importance is here, the rare metal Cobalt is not used, so the influence by world market doesn't exist. As an alternative of rare metal Cobalt, cheaper and lighter TOT is used instead.
The further experiments and investigations would open the new land on the field.

As one of my hobby, Canon 5D Mk2 full size digital camera with reflector SLR model has been reduced at the price recently, from 300,000 yen to 160,000 yen. This phenomena in the marked is often observed when the model finishes, transition period to model change.
As for my desire, ultimate and sophisticate to the utmost revel is not necessary, just 36mm by 24mm formatting is enough.
Deeper considerations are necessary for purchasing the Single Lens Reflector Digital Camera.

The earliest legal inspection coming on automobile I'm keeping is middle of January next year for BC7 SUBARU Legacy LSi US model, now all the performance of the model is favorable without necessitating any maintenance.
The next inspection is for XH200 OPEL B-Vectra on June, no problem also.
Before that 3L B4 SUBARU would be in December this year.

No dream no success?

I got the proverb by Shoin Yoshida listening to the NHK program this morning, "No success comes on the person who has no dream." A person who does not have dream has no idea, no idea invites no planning, no planning means no action, no action activates no successful result, so no dream calls no success.

In order to fulfill the gap between the presence now and the critical destination, we should know ourselves at all, we must see the bottom of own heart what do we want actually, we must call the true voice from the darker part of our own heart deeper inside?
I'm going to sturdy on this point from now including the way of presentations.

Truly and from bottom of own heart, they are the key wards.

Modification

I have some complaint on the rolling property of VW 1302 Super Beetle, one of the reason may be the fact that no anti-rolling bar is not equipped on the rear axle though the frontal one exists as a part of lower arm lateral oblique support.

As the holes and screw thread are observed on the rear portion of the body, I might try to fix genuine parts as an experiment. It looks like inviting me to some experiment preparing the good opportunity.

Judging from the weight balance F/R, rear axle should have the sway bar if it is settled on the frontal axle construction. This attempt would make progress in driving performance of Super Beetle without loosing the original compliance leading to breaking of NVH balance equilibrium.

Now I'm paying attentions onto the steering response on BC7 SUBARU Legacy LSi US model recently, because some deeper rotation of steering wheel makes me feel some unnatural reactions, heavier and locking phenomena.

This strange physical reaction must be caused by the the height change of axle construction, especially on the three dimensional difference of knuckle ball joint and steering tie rod end ball joint, however firmly the wheel alignment adjusted may be established.

Fundamental Axle Geometry change should cause unpredictable inconveniences just like the unidentified state that had not been well researched and developed in the factory before rolling out the model.
It's just a nonsense playing a trick by a layman or a amateur.

As mentioned in yesterday's blog, the best and certain way to regain the originally designed performance by the SUBARU factory is setting the original coil springs for front and rear suspensions, the shock absorbers may be a little bit harder may be suitable and acceptable as my usual manners.

Like a Phoenix

OPEL B-Vectra user in Kyushyu who inquired me to lent my DIY ST for rear lateral arm end ball joint replacement reported as a good news.

Though he regarded the cause of rear hitting noise was the ball joint with backlash, the noise did not disappear after the countermeasure. Immediately realized I the reason must be the shock absorber, piston rod and piston connection had been loosened leading to somehow Hysteresis.

The phenomena was the exactly the same and the model production period also, I sent him the residual rear shock absorber without negotiations nor permission by my own posting cost.

As his thankful E-mail said, the result was exactly to the point. Chronic strange noise being suffered from for long time completely removed. He could come to drive in agreeable condition . Also he could study more from my kind advice this time.

I'm also so pleased because the replaced but alive old parts could re-play a great parts of another B-Vectra in Kyushyu. And my DIY Special Tool could be useful and replacement was also successful.

Importance of original setting

Uncomfortable vibration with noise comes into cabin of VW 1302 Super Beetle after removing reinforced carpet on tire house portion and side shill, because of annoyance of scattering terrible odor smell by long term nourished chronic mold.

Parts unnecessary had not been applied by the factory, realizing me of the toll of removing the indispensable parts.
I must consider about the annoyance by loosing the established NVH condition.

After applying harder grease into the drive shaft's CV joint equipped in NCP10 TOYOTA Vitz, she became a faultless passenger's automobile on earth.
Motor, trans-axle, suspension design, brake system and interior atmospheric condition, I've no way to complaint on it. I admire the stuff of research and develop for this model.

As for BC7 SUBARU Legacy LSi US model, precise checking is necessary soon on steering reaction, the influence of height reduction about 35mm from original design caused unpredictable result that is not able to accept if the another improvements were recommended.

The steering resisting pressure increases on the way of turning the wheel, becomes harder and harder after passing a half way and increases the resistance exponentially.

This phenomena must be caused by the ill value of TOOT, the difference of direction of frontal wheel when the outer(or inner) wheel was twisted 20 degree.

Strange reactions were caused by the knuckle ball joint center displacement toward the upper position also the same occurred on tie rod end ball joint position upward.

There exist some 3ird party's special parts supply, I cannot rely on the reliability of their parts at all, because the experiment for researching and developing had not been performed enough like an automobile maker company's ones.

The shortest way to recover this kind of inconvenience on steering action, returning to the normal and original spring if the shock absorbers may be replaced into anther ones, because the final vehicle's height is decided mainly by the compressed coil spring length, hi pressure gas shock sometimes rise up a little occasionally.

BF8's, BP57's, BD5's and BF3's sets are at hand now, I must select best one sooner or later, as a favorable, interesting and joyful task in future.

Balance as a product

I make it a rule to estimate the performance of an automobile, "the body weight in combination with the brake system and tire size", " how much concentrations and adjustment are required to run straight on the straight road?" and "turn a circle as an ordinal driver's expectation".

Though the touching surface should be as smaller as possible, but it must be decided after researching by the factory designers in combination with the required area for braking phase.
The axle constructive geometry and wheel alignment play a great part of the performance, most of the time they are not so adjusted because of some cost reduction?

In another words, they the only things that the user could intervene and improve it's physical performance without destroying the equilibrium of balance as a finished product.

The third one is relatively difficult but adjustable by setting the value of rear total toe in addition to the idea the switching speed 60km as almost of factory engineers agree with.
Before tampering the vehicle's height, this adjusting procedure must be tried, because the height changing invites the displacement of rolling gravity center.

All the research and development division of the factory strives all the time seeking the best balanced equilibrium state for the next production models.

Delay at nanosecond revel

When the throttle valve is closed immediately from some rotation on internal combustion engine, much Carbon Oxide is exhausted polluting atmosphere by over-chock phenomena. Most sophisticated controlled by wire system could control the rotational transient more easily than before because the transient curvature could be programmed in flash memory by the electric engineer not by mechanical one. The term "by wire" here does not mean some mechanical wire but an electric wiring. Of course, the result now is based on repeated trial and error, once a vacuum valve and an actuator were invited on the control system.

Talking about my experience, I clearly felt the accelerating response delay when Bosch L-jetro system had been invited comparing mechanical carburetor, and now more delay is felt after controlling throttle valve by wire has been introduced. Nanosecond revel delay as it may be, I feel the delay. This may be one of the reason to re-experiment the nostalgic no-delay acceleration response on mechanical carburetor in Air-cooled VW Beetle.

Mil. air-port




Cloudy and occasionally rainy today as it was, I went for a touring in VW 1302 Super Beetle to Kasai City Uzurano Cho, The old military air port for one of the Kamikaze attacking strategy while The Pacific WW2.
There was a stone statue with some writing of the requiem for young pilots died for Japanese country.
Too sad to stay longer there for me, I started to leave after a few minutes staying.
Now the place belongs to Japanese Force of Self-Defense Division and some soldiers were staying there in military vehicles with long antennae for transceiver?

CPU fan noise

The possibility to exchange CPU in Toshiba Dynabook V9 to that of AX554C, Celeron M440 1,86GHz is very slight probably? More investigation is necessary. The inconvenience in V9 is the noise caused by CPU cooling fan when activated by being in loading phase.

This kind of troubles is reported as usual on the specific production model. Some report informed to the possibility to lubricate the center drive shaft by disassemble the fan construction, Microflon containing high speed bearing lubricant would be suitable.
This working would be ON tomorrow.

Traps were many in Web site to tease innocent persons to perplexing situation, how come? Is it so interesting attitude for you, trifles, Hackers?

Removing Babylon Search files and Mozilla Firefox ones, strange reactions disappeared finally.

Converting cooling fan for CPU in Dynabook AX/54C to V9/W14LDEW in addition a backup button battery. The video circuitry of former model does not work, so no BIOS is not observed. Latter model has a problem in cooling fan, making noise because of long time use. Though former one had been disassembled already, latter one looks the same in layout?

Carburetor fine adjustment

Climate change these days obliged me of further adjustment on Solex 34PICT3 carburetor in VW 1302 Super Beetle.
More air supply on idling phase and closing bypass screw obtained more stable and smooth operations including low to middle speed transition, disappearing strong and stimulating smell of exhaust gas also was the result.

Complicated and time-consuming procedures are required to keep the AD 1600cc Boxer motor's condition utmost, still my air-cooled Beetle has enough fascinations to make me feel keep this automobile much longer, at least 10 years more.

On the other hand the passenger's automobile fully controlled by sophisticated electric sensors and semi-conductors has not tendency to be destroyed the stable condition. So no interests are invited in the motor healthy condition, no anxiety has been occurred before Legal Inspections if the automobile was a recent ECU controlled one.

The anxiety because of mechanical carburetor, WEBER 40 DCOM in Talbot PEUGEOT 205 Rallye, raining, snowing and changeable humidity were the reason. Carbon Oxide 4,5% and Hydrocarbon 1200ppm were the almost the limitation for WEBER side draft Racing Carburetor.

Killing DEXIA?

The economic condition in Europe is far worse than supposed, because the news said that one of the most famous European Bank "DEXIA" has bankrupted today! Having been keeping Grease National Credit was the main reason so informed.

No good news is discerned these days on earth? Germany but anyone could assume the bad debts in future, if so, how would become of weakened nations? Then Europe is the first, faster than US?

Political unrest caused by unbalanced European economical condition may not affect on far Eastern Asia to Japan, so I pray from the bottom of my heart.

World map now awfully resembles that of the period of the time just before the outbreak of WW2?

DIY made ST



A Web friend in Kyusyu inquired me of the Special Tool for a pillow ball joint replacement in XH200 Opel B-Vectra. I sent him the DIY ST and second handed but alive parts of course.
This affair remembered me of some interesting story of a chain reaction of automobile parts replacement coming out one after another.

Hitting noise from rear axle portion of B-Vectra obliged me to replace the pillow ball joints fixed in the lateral arm end on 4 points, the Special Tool was prepared by myself utilizing caliper piston of TOYTA GX71 and GX91 with 11mm centering bolt and nut application.

But the intolerable strange hitting noise from rear left axle did not disappear at all, I happen to hold the roof rail and shuck violently with some indignation, then it was that moment that I found out the critical criminal, shock absorber piston rod portion was the origin of the chronic noise.

For the countermeasure replaced I the rear shock absorbers on both sides, but this destruction of wearing balance caused chain reactions following after the mistakes, too firm reactions from the rear axle cleared up the weak frontal shock absorbing capability. So I did the same on frontal axle for the next step, closing up the worn main rear engine mount with a lack of supporting viscoelasticity. Then the engine mount was replaced overcoming incredible difficulty with desperate efforts.

Now almost of the internal main components of Vectra were thoroughly replaced except the X20 motor and AISIN automatic trans-axle.

Overdid myself yesterday

The thrust angle of VW 1302 Super Beetle would be re-checked again, rear brake shoe positioning adjustment also be done today. Though it's a very best fine day for cruising today, I would not go around, because of traffic crowded congestion as a National holiday.

The organization of parts warehouse and gardening are the main tasks today.

Heavy D type battery treatment yesterday made my back stiff on earth, reminding me of my aged body condition?
Also, removing temporally inserted rubber sims at stabilizer bush portions in strange body twisting position did harm on my hip muscles.

Spare lead battery increase in number, because my son easily replace into new devices and equipments saying that's his way, how come.

If the machinery works well however old it may be and however long period of time it has been used, no changing is necessary!

Worked on cars enough

Relatively high voltage with weak current charging method of 3 days on given up battery was successfully finished regaining the regular proportion of sulfuric acid.
The performance of lead battery is estimated not on the voltage but on the proportion of the liquid inside. The lack of the proportion means that the battery has finished it's life by some reason, mainly by the sulfate acid film coating on the terminal plate surface.

Additional application of Urea grease with harder viscosity was successful, on drive shaft CV joint on the right side of NCP10 TOYOTA Vitz. Small but clearly audible clicking noise in the joint has completely exterminated today. Mainly observed while turning meant that the noise had been sounded not from inside DIJ but from out side DOJ.

1mm thickness rubber had been applied between the stabilizer bushes and their blacked, this process was necessary to keep the axle construction solid as much as possible while scaling and adjusting the wheel alignment and axle constructive geometry.

Of course the compliance increased as before as the constructor's factory standard setting, the stability would be lost in stead if the alignment and geometry had not been established enough. No apparent change of steering reactions nor the frequency of it's wheel to keep the straight running after that.


2 liquid type urethane clear spraying on the bonnet of XH200 OPEL B-Vectra was successful, it makes me grad so much. The destruction of clear thin foil were caused on the heated portion by the internal combustion engine X-20, the power steering pump portion and EGR control valve one.

Also the frontal bumper upper surface of BC7 SUBARU Legacy LSi US model has been suffered from the white turbidity, working in together at the same time. To tell the truth, I felt bad a bit when I fount some flyers advertisement on the wiper blade noticing this car is changeable at 10,000 yen. So no more, because my 20 years Legacy became better looking.

Though I took a nap for a while beside the automobile in the garage, I did worked well today.

Lead car battery

A lead battery for a passenger's automobile lasts about 4 to 5 years at the shortest if the way of use is adequate and charging system works well.

SXE10 TOYOTA Altezza is used very seldom once a week for a very short period of time, so it has a tendency to be in lack of charging phase, in the necessity of additional and external charging to keep the lead battery in healthy condition.

First of all, the warping phenomena of the electrical terminal plates must be avoided leading to the case fracture. High voltage often invited this kind of voids.

Two holidays for servicing

The most inconvenient phenomena in the automobile I'm keeping is the drive shaft clicking noise in NCP10 TOYOTA Vitz, as replacement parts are obtained, I must proceed to next step.

Wheel alignment re-adjustment on SXE10 TOYOTA Altezza is waiting for long time these 2 years. Acceptable for the user as it is, a few minutes error on frontal camber and some thrust angle must be formed if the driver's weight is applied on the seat portion.

Precise scaling and adjusting would establish the more stable steering action, now it has a potential and hidden bad habit to change the running direction, self automatic stability must be build on Altezza because the axle construction has good adjusting mechanism designing.

Thin clear film on bonnet painting surface of XH200 OPEL B-Vectra is partially fell down and looks not so good. Also the frontal bumper of BC7 SUBARU Legacy LSi US model has the same problem.
2 liquid activating type clear urethane painting spray is prepared already, no way to hesitate to proceed?

20 years is old enough for vehicle's commercial distribution, an advertisement paper for buying this automobile was clumped beneath a wiper blade again. But 40 years old Beetle has no experience, why? Too old to be invited to their party?

Losing consciousness while driving?

Losing consciousness while driving an automobile is very dangerous for safety traffics, if the lost period of may be quite a short moment. Once famous NHK announcer said he never drive a car by himself because of unintentional habit to lose self consciousness for short period of time leading to some serious traffic accident.

I have often experienced this kind of situation especially after attaining the precise wheel alignment and geometric axle construction correction.
The adjusted automobile goes straight like an arrow without any specific concentration to keep the center of the lane.

No changing phenomena of nose direction occurs being influenced by the ground inclination may happen, just the steering tells the change of ground line by giving some pressure on the steering wheel. So, the efforts required to keep straight running is just holding the steering wheel at the centric position. No efforts nor concentration are necessary on earth.

This is why the completed automobile on wheel alignments has a tendency to invite the dangerous phenomena of losing consciousness while driving an automobile unintentionally! Here I wanna put an emphasis on the point that the phenomena of losing consciousness resembles that of sleeping while driving, but different ones each other.

Recently have I some suspicion on the precise adjustment on wheel alignment and constructive axle geometry correction, they would not always give a automobile driver only some benefit but also some danger of a traffic accident caused by driver's losing consciousness.
In another words, some concentration and efforts to keep the automobile run straight may be necessary not to lose own consciousness of the driver?

The more precisely the automobile was adjusted on wheel alignment and geometric construction, the less concentration is required to keep the car run straight. So the possibility to lose consciousness increases leading to a dangerous traffic accident?

Good performance!

Well adjusted carburetor mixture, adequately positioned ignition timing and cold weather with low humidity in addition to new motor oil, performs ultimate condition of VW AD 1600cc Boxer motor on earth.
Only 30,000km used for 40 years provides me of very comfortable driving performance, this is why I obtained this air-cooled 1302 Super Beetle.
This ultimate condition would be relatively easy to continue for the time being.

Almost of the maintenance were conquered after energy consuming desperate efforts for 12 months except the rear hub bearing grease up and body painting. More considerations would be necessary on restoring from now?
Mechanically best condition of this Beetle would continue at least for 20 years from now, how would be the appearance?

Servicing in future

New motor oil 5W-30 TOYOTA Castle oil reduced idling speed a bit on VW 1302 Super Beetle's AD 1600cc motor, replacement of the motor oil was performed 7,000km use since last year now.
Smooth and comfortable rotation were obtained as usual especially Microflon application.

Second handed driver's seat for 1302 arrived from Tokyo, checking and planning are necessary for utilization to the adaptations with another automobile's seats, any modifications may be possible if the specific designed seat base rails were prepared.

As for XH200W OPEL B-Vectra, 5 hours test driving to Northern Kyoto proved the maintenance on Trans-Axle Position Sensor was to the point with a correct procedure, showing no tendency to put on the "Check Engine" warning lamp.

Replacement of rear engine mount after 150,000km use for 14 years was effective enough to regain the original compliance on the very important posterior position. Strange odor smell reduced to the revel of almost nothing by cleaning maintenance last time. Now no complaint was found on my B-Vectra.

Neutral steer habit was observed on BC7 Legacy while turning at middle speed, steering reactive pressure disappears and wheel position stays as it is. The luck of rear total toe may be a reason, the adjustment in combination with the thrust angle may solve this problem relatively easily. Any way precise measurements are the first.

CV(Continuous Velocity) joint on the drive shaft in NCP10 TOYOTA Vitz needs investigations because of clicking noise. Liquid lubricant may be remained and still now makes noise if it would not read to an immediate breakage of the joint. Check must be performed with making haste.

Writing about the wheel alignment, SXE10 TOYOTA is waiting for my inspection also including a lead battery probably weakened utmost for additional charging.

Modern paper air filter box

The dry filter system including air cleaner box has been obtained fro YaHoo Auction at 2,000 yen. This modern shrunk paper air filter system should be tried as an experiment instead of oil bath old designed one for the convenience of maintenance.

Thanks to the information from the Web site I could know the way of hoses connection, especially hot air inlet control vacuum hose for the actuator equipped on the fresh air inlet way and 15mm nipple toward right side.

The former question was cleared by connecting with the closed nipple for retarding the idling ignition timing, the rate of vacuum is reduced according to throttle valve opening gradually. This linear transition of vacuum control could activate the actuator controlling butterfly dividing the fresh and cold air with hot air from #3 cylinder after cooling.

The latter problem of 15mm diameter nipple positioning at lower part of box to right side was prepared for vapor fuel gasoline from canister that was for later models, as for '71 model not designing setting of canister.

Naturally I could not find the way for the hose connections. The nipple should be closed for my Beetle.
Anyway the experimental trial must be performed actually obtaining the conclusion by myself.

Sport or Sporty

A wagon body like XH200W OPEL B-Vectra is very convenient and indispensable for carrying unusually larger baggage like unloaded driver's seat as a part. This is why I cannot release this German automobile and in addition to the extraordinary driving sensations.

I just remembered about OPEL Speed Star, with two seats pure sports car modified Lotus sports model's platform.
The only reason to make me refrain from purchase this is the constructive way of back bone, not rivet stopping but Epoxy glue adhering way, there exist some anxiety for the life of glue material.

The balance shaft to compensate vibration because of over 500cc cylinder bulk(2,2L) may be inevitable, that is different from HONDA 20K motor(2,0L) with balancer equipped in Civic Euro Type R.

Low and lighter constructive design is the first necessary requirements for alert and agile comfortable driving, that's completely different from a modified ordinal passenger's automobile like Civic Type R Euro with original plat form of shoddy and cheap "Fit".

Anyway, we must make it clear and wipe out the disambiguation between Pure Sports Car and Sporty modified ordinal passenger's automobile however strange name was applied on a different and pseudo one!

Calorie and aging

I've made it a rule to reduce the calorie into 2/3 of habitual value having been lasted for long time resulting in over-weighing now I am.
The way is very simple, a lunch dishes are divided into two halves, the residual 1/2 would be taken immediately after working around 7 in the evening, then after that never eat except some cups of Japanese tea, falling into bed around 10 PM.
10 days have passed since started this manner with 3kg body weight reduction.
15kg minus weight is the destination of the trial this time?

The purpose of this calorie reduction 30% trial is anti-aging and vertical weight supporting bony joints protection especially around Pelvis and knee joints.

As I recognized in the TV, the difference between a regularly fed Macaca fascicularis and a 30% less fed one.
Now too much or enough feeding accelerates aging is known, instead 30% less feeding would not.

Much more people in the world die because of overeating themselves than of starvation.

Climate changes

The temperature outside became cool to cold this morning, the lowest temp. lust night was 12 degree celsius, the air pressure balance "West hi and East lo" is one of a typical winter season's one.
VW AD motor works so favorably at this kind of temperature.

Purely mechanical carburetor controlled inner combustion motor like AD 1600cc motor has some tendency to be influenced by the air condition, the factors of pressure and temperature. The transient on acceleration phase and idling stability became far better than the beginning stage last year.
The tightening bolt on steering gear backlash adjustment did not cause the heavier steering reaction at all and clicking noise disappeared.

Over 40 visitors make me tired so much and I've some difficulty to refresh myself for next day, realizing me of aging, not so young as before?

Became better

Driving position is very important in comfortable touring for an enthusiastic driver, because the angular position from sagittal view has much to do with the fatigue, additionally telescopic anterior-posterior position has intimate relations each other. So the most adequate driving position must be established before starting, also this procedure is indispensable for safety driving.

Today I'll receive some cargo from Tokyo including second handed VW 1302 Super Beetle's driver seat. XH200 OPEL B-Vectra is come here with the rear seat collapsed for burdening the baggage.
The sitting base parts would be arranged to put some another seat with the seat back stepless adjustment mechanism because of upper reasons.

As mentioned last night the ignition timing was acceptable at BTDC 10 degree with good performances in every situation.
After fixing mechanical requirements, the glaring defects on painting became outstanding? Shall I re-paint in original collor at 400,000 yen, the more expensive price than that of 1302 herself?

After healing the disease, Pelvis slipped down hernia, the Monroe Reflex shock absorbs replaced half a year ago do harm a bit, just a little harder for me now, though it may be better enough on the highway.

The representative of Gifu Honda Co. called me last night to negotiate about the Chronic Civic Type R Euro. Finally the payment 100,000 yen was required for compensating the loss caused by the contract-out.
I don't know how it would have become of in future?

Finding out BTDC

Setting the ignition timing at BTDC 10 degree attained the best in every situation of VW 1302 Super Beetle.
The angle 10 degree may be the best point for most of passenger's car if the trans-axle may be controlled automatically or manually.

Remembering EP82 TOYOTA had the same 10 degree BTDC ignition timing though the computer controlled automobile as it was.

Broken heater control lever holding resisting plastic collar were replaced, lever angular positioning became so firm and tight as to hold the lever at desired position for adequate hot air flow for R/L.

Window washer nozzle was replace into new parts and arranged the hose connection firmly by applying plastic tie band in the nipple undercut.

Additional re-tightening of steering gear adjuster 1/16 angle has removed the clicking noise still remained since the latest maintenance.

Conditions on myself & autos

Disassembling and cleaning on trans-axle position sensor wiped out any anxiety of functional disorder in the mechanical and electrical construction of XH200 OPEL B-Vectra.
After obtaining the stability as a passenger's car, no complaint nor distrust occur in my mind, of course no "Engine Check" lamp put on after the maintenance lust time.

Thank to many supports while I have been in ill health condition, Pelvis slipped hernia, I have some tendency to recover myself soon without an awful surgical operation.

The driver's second handed seat has obtained from the YaHoo Auction at 1,000 yen for VW 1302 Super Beetle. Because the mounting method of seat rail to the body floor is different from another car, the female holder is soldered on the floor and the adapted rail is inserted with some engineering plastic inserts. So, modifying itself or just utilizing the base with male shape would be my choice after checking the adaptations.

Once I had considered about the difference of driving taste comparing some German automobile and Japanese one. The designing of lower arm was completely different each other, the length I mean. This conceptional difference must affect on the point?

The inconvenient change of the value of toe and camber when outer force was applied in the axle construction.
Much more deeper considerations and discussions are necessary on this point.

What would have become of E-BLE?

How shall I do on the returned 3L Legacy B4 after being tampered by my son?
Shock absorbers and springs for suspension construction would be replaced into 2L NA model's one, they are not Bilstein ones but ordinal oil shock absorbers in combination with much more softer and more gentle reaction, because vigorous and hard driving are not desired for my use.

Liquid impacted engine mounts would be replaced into genuine original ones after 100,000 km use. Strut upper mounts F/R would be replaced in addition to spring rubber seats insertions.

How about combining the upper part of the engine with strut tower on both sides, the purpose of this strange treatment is the avoidance of lateral movement to increase steering action stability, the idea is influenced by Prockonten old Audi safety system for accidental controlling the engine falling down direction to downward. The transient of steering reaction may be changed better.

I just remembered about the hardness of rear upper arm inner bush, too flexible and easily movable. This extraordinary application may be based on the new principle on frontal lower arm compliance bushes with cracked design.
