Air-cooled VW 1302 Super Beetle "Thrust"

The thrust angle on air-cooled VW 1302 Super Beetle has also adjusted, establishing zero total toe value, thrust adjustment invited much difficulty if compared with SXE10 TOYOTA Altezza that has capable enough adjusting points. As a matter of fact, the left side hub case movement 2 mm backward eliminated all the discrepancy.
The establishment of thrust is the most important requirement to drive a car in comfort. Let's imagine some Billiards game, any deviation of just a little of course results in failure to fall the aimed ball. On the other hand, the axis is to the point, it goes on the course to the falling point.
The importance of the thrust is the same in F/F or AWD models, because the direction of the driven car is decided by the thrust of the rear total toe vector direction. In addition, the discrepancy of the thrust is precisely adjusted by keen sensor equipped mechanism---the driver's corrective function under unconscious. This is why we drive a car relatively long distance, not muscle fatigue but nerve tiredness.
Though it might be some illness to stick too much to this kind of trifle thing, I would continue to do so because there exist obvious difference between Zero Thrust car and others.

Modify GW 30cc MXS-R

As mentioned before, Gold Wing 30cc V3 series model MXS-R is under construction modifying it's tail moment 75 mm longer than original design in order to adapt into F3A competition use. The task is not so easy as imagined because there were many parts to be corrected, twisted, vent, distorted in all the wings in addition to the fuselage construction. Consequently, it took me relatively long period of time including motivating myself to proceed the work, not so interesting nor fun. The rod type plastic hinges must not be strong nand tight to support stronger forces when laundering, and the same airplane had ugly flatter phenomena when I saw last year. So, I have applied additional hinge points in adequate positions for the fear of awful flatter, I don't want to come across with such kind of disaster, yes, damned disintegration!

Thrust in SXE10 Altezza

I have realized after establishing zero thrust in SXE10 TOYOTA Altezza that even a slight value of wheel alignment discrepancy as to 0,21 minutes(12,90 seconds angle value) causes some indescribably unpleasant steering feeling, le the thrust angle has much to do with the straightness of the vehicle. Hmmm---, there exist several difficulties, for example, rubber bushes scattered everywhere in the axle construction designing for preventing noise and vibration from the ground and motor crankshaft knocking stimulation, yes, these materials has inevitable physical properties, changeable permanent elastic strain, viscoelastic hysteresis. They are all the criminals that prevent us to adjust and set up the axle constructive geometry and wheel alignment in the critically precise condition. It goes without writing there that the tires has also much to do with the upper condition, because they cause some uneven polarized wear according to use in unfavorably bad environmental condition. So, we should check and correct periodically the axle constructive condition if we desire to drive your vehicle in comfort, the importance is the wheel alignment.

VW1302 bumper protector



Bumper protectors were set in places on the rear bumper end for preparing the 2 years periodical Legal Inspection according to the Road Vehicles Act next spring. This the measures of an accident that happened in the past with a bicycle,  a miserable bicycle driver dragging it's wheel sandwiched between the cavity Beetle's rear fender and the it's rear bumper. So the thickness there was specified below 35 mm, the value should be the bicycle's tire width? As for my VW 1302 Beetle, the original bumper was replaced into a poor quality ones for front and rear when face-lift had been done. Lack of the end length invited 45 mm space there, this is the reason why I applied plastic ugly protectors on the rear bumper. Though have I not a little regret after that, must I follow the Legal Regulation anyway.
Beetle's carburetor repair kit and a diaphragm fuel pump were ordered together with bumper bolts, the positions of the fuel inlet nipple and outlet one were at different relations compared with indigenous one, I knew the construction after breathing in or smoke was blown, care must be taken on the rubber fuel hoses arrangements including adequate length promptly.

Below 5 degree Celsius today

2 cycle 30 class modified "Majestic" ARF model is now undergoing to change my initial planning from GP into EP. For the convenience to replace Li-Po batteries, the original fuselage construction is also modified cutting it's upper part just infront of canopy portion. According to opening this part, any reinforcement would be required. Some carbon fiber square pipe would be applied around the upper hall.
About OPTO ESC Futaba MC9100A, this production is exactly as same as OS 100A ESC OCA-1100HV, so Futaba programmer MCP-1 is applicable to OS ESCs. This information was obtained by asking to OS customer service division.
Remembering back the starting point a year ago, my planing to invite GP were obliged to translate into GP by several factors. Because, Ogawa precise manufacturing company is using the test flight place that is the same place as mine and the newest information in F3A field are brought to me unintentionally as a matter of fact, this is why I have been moved my original planning from GP to EP, in addition, there were many opportunity to see the excellent condition flight of a seed player.
Remembering the past 30 years ago, I was flying with a person who had been a champion in F3A field belonging with Futaba researching and developing division, so I was and I am enjoying my R/C life in the luckiest environmental condition.

Gradual transition

Typical winter season has come this morning in Kinki area, the Continental high pressure comes down and covers here with Chills, so even in the day time the temperature outside does not come up to 10 degree celsius.
Two of EP model airplanes are under construction and soon they will be put in the air, gradually my power source is in transition these days. Kypom Lithium-Polymer battery for F3A with 10S have arrived today.
This winter season would be desirable and interesting interval of preparing for the future EP flight in the next Spring season.

Before setting up

The tail stabilizer on 30 cc gas model SMX-R that had been mal-fabricated in China was so corrected to meet with useful for F3A competition use, vent and twisted construction was aligned utilizing parallel jig. Quiet and steady dedications are required to do like this in spite of there exist another easier way to buy some expensive professional made F3A model. I just remembered an old saying by the famous champion flyer, "Just obtain a precisely fabricated competition airplane done by the reliable professional, a competition flyer should be devoted only in day-to day flying practice, we should spend time only for that purpose, our own time should not be wasted for maintenance purpose."

30cc Gas model into EP


The vertical tail of MXS-R 30cc gas Acro model was corrected safe that was caused by ill-fabrication in China factory. Construction Jigs are not used or in different manner if done? Now, horizontal tail stabilizer is undergoing with the same manner as vertical one, vent and twisted ugly construction would be corrected, otherwise, this model could be used as a F3A competition plane. Also, Electric power source would be invited in this complicated and troublesome one, Futaba FMA-5065 KV300 and 5000mAh 10 are prepared already, OS motor 5025 KV375 was obtained from YaHoo Auction at a half price, 6,000 yen including speed controller Hobby King 100A. My curiosity has almost inclined toward Electric Power source these days.

SXE10 Altezza rear camber



Uneven rear camber values on SXE10 TOYOTA Altezza were corrected yesterday. Because the right side wheel base was prolonged the other day, rear wheel alignment and constructive geometry were changed leading into various discrepancies everywhere in rear suspension construction. So, made up I my mind to correct it into zero thrust condition yesterday. As we know, camber adjusting can not be done independently, instead moving rear wheel vertical inclination causes toe discrepancy, consequently, they should be done together with at the same time when scaling and setting both toe and camber inclination. The procedure proceeds by reducing so to speak tolerance trying and cutting several times with patience. 75 minutes negative camber value was applied on rear wheels under the condition of 2 mm toe-in(tire outer surfaces) with zero thrust. The importance of establishing zero thrust condition in the car is emphasized especially on FR models like Altezza. We can easily imagine that the thrust line is the key to push the object straight forward in playing Billiards game.
As mentioned before, vertical inclination is measured with DIY special Pendulum device 1,719,75 mm radius reading 2 minutes per 1 mm at it's measuring point, horizontal checking is done by the level device imbedded with LASER pointer.

SXE-10 Altezza stabilizer bush

In order to establish the relieved stability while straight running, toe direction should be fixed as much as possible in every wheel. For example, anti-rolling bar called a stabilizer set in both front and rear suspension is thought to be activated only for preventing excessive rolling change of position, but actually they play a great part of the contribution to straight running stability. I have ever experienced in XH-200 OPEL B-Vectra after replacing the worn front stabilizer links on both side those had ignorable backlashes in ball joints. After the periodical maintenance, the stability while straight running had been remarkably improver like some different car. Because the wear progress goes gradually, the driver has difficulty to perceive any inconvenience like that. Any way, as I have such kind of experience in the past,  applied I the same method on SXE10 TOYOTA Altezza that has some problem in straight running stability mainly because of innate too much suspension compliance, soft and movable bush rubber hardness. In order to fix and tighten the stabilizer bars, front  and rear, small pieces of 1mm thickness rubber were applied on stabilizer bush bracket portions promptly. This tiny and trifle modification changes compliance so much. The torsion bar stabilizers F/R had not been activated in the very beginning stage of suspension vertical movement under the loose clumping by the stabilizer bushes condition.  As a conclusion, this experimental trial was nothing but "Bingo!". The steering response character resembles BMW 3 normal models.
Now, I have been fully contented in this Altezza. With all component of this car, reliable and unbreakable 3SGE latest sophisticated motor with excellent control, AISHIN smooth 5 speed automatic trans-axle and double wishborn suspension construction on 4 wheels do not give me any reasons to deny Altezza. Probably, I suppose this car will continue till I go.

Conflict

A small but beautiful butterfly came into my working place this morning, guided it to outside safe.
Experimental endeavours for space travel both a space ship and a locket failed and the test pilot was killed in the accident, disappointed I so much to know that and I want to express condolences to the parties.
I'm now in conflicting emotional condition in at between, Gas power and Electric power. Not a little confidence have I in gas power, because it is a familiar field long lasting as long as 50 years. On the other hand, electric power is a mysterious field for me. I don't understand how to connect wiring of three leeds in a brushless motor. It's nothing but a gibberish for me. In addition, lithium-Polymer battery is very dangerous if treated irregularly, overcharging and over-emission. But, I'll overcome these problem relatively soon if I start it.

Rusty memory

Had I an opportunity to talk with a long lasting intimate friend in the evening yesterday about my professional theoretical subject that exists in a deeper memory in my brain cortex piled about 50 years ago. Then I had realized to have some situation to talk about some subject in my own scientific and specific field. LCD in front of our PC is regarded as a gate to International Library and almost of the necessary information could be obtained in some Web sites, so human communications each other are not always required to do that, finding out myself to have lost some capability to talk and speak function establishing my own theoretical construction. I deeply feel the necessity to talk about our professional piled memory with some friend to remember and align my cortex.

GW 30cc Acro into P15 pattern model

The vertical tail of Gold Wing 30 cc V3 series was operated in two pieces following my ordinary manner in order to eliminate the poisoning discrepancy, twisted fuselage in addition to distorted vertical stabilizer to the right side. The adjusting reference is the main wing connecting carbon rod. For extending the tail moment, the horizontal stabilizer would be set at 75 mm posterior position, this is an indispensable arrangement to modify the innate acrobatic model into my specific purpose, P15 maneuver stunt performance, because too short tail moment arm causes some unstability that is inconvenient for drawing F3A patterns in the sky. Basic construction of GW 30 cc acro model is almost the same as popular recent P15 stunt models, except the finished weight. I wonder if I could carry out to do that within 5 kgr? The limited weight must be cleared at any rate, otherwise, it would be far impossible to be an applicant of F3A competitions in future.

Gas power vs Electric motor power?

Too much concerns about the bad habits scatters my concentration what to do first, CPU in my cortex is almost overheated. My first EP experience would be done on Gold Wing 30 cc acro airplane. Before starting this creation, some fundamental distortions depending on the rough construction in China manufacture. Because of cheapest price that I had paid, no complaint about any mal-construction should not be given a voice, just correct by myself silently on all the discrepancy. Ugly distorted vertical stabilizer twisting to the right side must be turned back by cutting it at the centric line that is exactly the same as the method done on the main wings of China made ARF models. It goes without writing that the fallen vertical stabilizer causes some strange bad habit especially on out side loop maneuver, so this kind of primitive misconstruction must be fairly corrected at any efforts.
Modified Majestic is stopped because of the ambivalence on power source selection, GP or EP? If 4 cell driving is insisted because of battery weight barrier problem, some adequate motor must be prepared, Futaba motor or OS?

Fantastic EP F3A field

The opportunity to come across with the scenery to see the P15 pattern flown by one of a seed flyer powered by EP obliged me to enter into EP field regardless of my own preference. Now, direct driving motor is developing to meet with the prevailing system constructed with cogged belt reduction mechanism. The flight was nothing but the same as that direct driven system on former champion's old model. Flying with such kind of higher person, my skill to do that makes progress, because the developing state-of-the-art technology shown actually in front of me by the manufactures engineers deeply inspire my motivation to get into the brilliant EP field.

Consideration


Because OS 46LA motor stops when the fuel tank becomes empty, but, about 3 cc fuel remains and I have realized that the fuel tank setting position is not adequate, rear part higher than front that was done by the former owner of this Yoshioka Pegasus ST also builder of this. I did to set it in the correct position with a bit rear part down, this kind of correction might be a trifle one, but some piled trifles are not always trifle, but great.

I'm changing my planning from Gas power to Electric power on the modified Majestic originally designed by a French World champion few years ago. Though I have Futaba highest EP motor FMA-5065 KV300 and ESC MC9100A Opto, this equipment might be over powered for Majestic and the lower class EP might be better with 100gr lighter weight. Deeper consideration would be done on this point.

Making Progress

It was fine and the best day for R/C flight yesterday. Kyosho Sukhoi 31 40, Yoshioka Pegasus ST and Tetra Rookie 20 were brought to the flying place at Iga Ueno in Mie prefecture, several problems were found in them promptly.
Sukhoi 31:
Too much elevator area for acrobatic purpose causes too much sensitive reaction reading to Auto-rotation phenomena, leveled rudder causes Knife-edge downing direction in both right and left flights, 240cc fuel tank for 40 motor fuel consumption is too small for YS 60SR motor, actually it caused motor stop because of lack of fuel supply and it fell down it too complicated bush with ground slope, not a little effort was required to pick it up. It was nothing but a the attitude for a beginners, I'm shame so much.
Pegasus ST:
Thanks to applying some adequate balancing wing weight at the tip of left wing, the reactions while maneuvers became obedient so much, this plane would be useful to train myself for light weight conditioned airplane controlling. The rubber sealing cap on the fuel tank should be replaced ASAP, curing and alteration causes peeling and the pieces causes some clogging in fuel line especially in fuel filter mesh.
Rookie 20:
Lack of tightening of the rubber sealing cap at center position caused pressure and fuel leak and the receiver box was drenched with fuel oil, it would be processed to degreasing procedure, just troublesome so much. Modified throttle fuel refining portion caused caught phenomena at lowest throttle position leading to unstable motor lowest rotational stability, it should be completed on slipping surface finish.

SXE10 TOYOTA Altezza:
By adapting the front total total toe vector direction with the actual rear total toe vector direction, it goes straight incredibly with the least rudder adjusting at the steering centric position reding to the least driving nerve tire. But the innate wondering bad habit of Altezza remains, that is mainly caused by over compliance on suspension lateral arm hinge bushes on both front and rear. Just it is caused by the lack of efforts with packing in by the TOYOTA factory engineers.

11AD Air-cooled VW Super Beetle:
I have a conclusion that the slight mal-rotation on the left rear wheel is caused by the differential side bearing, VW shop Flat4  shows the replacement bearing size, outer, inner and height, 68 41 19 by German made, but as for my wondering, the size is not found in the web site including Japanese companies made, instead 68 40 19 size is available, how come? I guess, the popular size should be the correct?

4 blade propeller


2 pieces of 10-6 Graupner Super Nylon propeller would be put on YS 60SR motor as an experimental trial tomorrow. The blade width and thickness of 2 blades prop are both far larger than APC 4 blade prop if compared. Narrower and thin construction would gain more motor rotation, but on the mechanical efficiency, more actual experiment would be required to know the effective road nP15 maneuver would be, 2 cycle motor with tuned silencer.

Experimental trials

Setting 2 pieces of 9-5 propeller on OS 46LA motor as an experimental trial gave me a meaningful information yesterday. It was a first time to fly with 4 blade prop, extension dash of speed after downing phase has been far reduced instead, downing speed was slower than 2 blades with braking effect by added 2 blade areas. As the flying dynamics are fundamentally different from 2 blades airplane, more research and development are required to establish my own 4 blade flight. Remembering my past, I have been insisting the same propeller, Graupner 12-10,5 on YS 60 FR motor, because of the principle not to change any collateral condition to keep the motor operation stable and monotonous. Now, time is come to get into the research and development in propeller field, though the way is not not a plane one not easy as imagined, I'll do that to find out the best balanced condition for 2 cycle motor, also the exhaust pipe length in addition to "linear adjustable pipe" in accordance with it's operating rotation. The way would be so far as to break my will, but I'll try until I get some effective result.

The wheel alignment discrepancy on SXE10 TOYOTA Altezza was found and corrected after 400 km highway running, that of 0,8 mm rear total toe was corrected resulting 1,8mm toe-in condition. Became far better than before, no steering rotating adjustment is required when stop and start including while circumambulation condition.

4 blades propeller on OS46LA

I just imagined to set two pieces of 9-5 propeller on OS 46LA for braking effect in downing phaze like Golf ball and Hour glass. I wanna see what will happen the phenomena if the props were set in different tracking position. By increased blades in number to double load, 9-5 prop must be suitable or over load, so I guess, the fact would be proved actually tomorrow after noon. This is the indispensable experimental trial for the future application in F3A field with gas motor, now the people has tendency to change the power from gas to electric motor. If 4 blades propeller would be suitable and had a enough braking effect, I would like to choose this method.

Front Toe direction

I have been immersed in wheel alignment and suspension constructive geometry of the vehicles these days, SXE10 TOYOTA Altezza and air-cooled VW Super Beetle 11AD. According to the suggestion by our accounting clerk that the number of our keeping cars is too much, reduction of them are necessary condition to be required to keep our economic condition, elimination of wastes.

About the adjustment of so to speak wheel alignment, Thrust angle and the vector direction of front Total Toe direction should be the same theoretically, but actually they differ a little actually, probably the discrepancy must be caused by the error of camber values on 4 wheels, backlashes on supporting bearings, uneven weight balance and adjustment error in everywhere. Then which is the prior error to be relied on for adjustment, front toe direction or thrust value scaled on rear wheels? As my reliable opinion, the trust angle should be adjusted at the rear adjusting points based on front toe direction until it comes to front zero error. This is the key to establishing Zero Thrust condition  on the vehicle. My opinion like this might change if more sophisticated way would appear in future.

A car in "Zero Thrust" condition

It's my best fun to find out the prompted the best point and the condition in Physics field. Also, the purpose of my life is nothing but this, otherwise, it is no meaning to lead a life on the Earth for me. Having an interest with curiosity and pursue it is my life. I pay some little attention on the speculation of others, because it is mainly based on the 3 large desires that people have innate and the properties are the same as myself. So, checking myself is enough to know and realize about that, no need to pay attention to others.
As for the car wheel alignment, there are two types of those, Zero thrust adjusted one or not. Probably, very few persons have experienced "Zero Thrust" condition, like some engineer or researcher in the develop division of a manufacturing company?  Completely different and fantastic world would be opened in driving a car, I'm sure!

Air-cooled VW Super Beetle alignment


I just remembered that the wheel alignment on air-cooled 11AD VW Super Beetle has not been checked for a long time since the rear torsion bar bushes had been replaced, they changes their form relatively easily leading to causing alignment discrepancy at all. So, following to SXE10 TOYOTA Altezza, wheel alignment check and correction on 11AD were performed yesterday, holiday as Autumn Equinox.
I make it a rule not to go outside on any National holidays, because the roads are crowded everywhere and holiday drivers does in some rough and aggressive manners scattering discomforts and inconveniences.

Though I thought it might take time to do that at the beginning because of the suspension construction that has no way to adjust the thrust angle except inserting the adjusting sims, the first trial could have carried out the destination. Just adjusting the left rear wheel base could solved all the problems, also one notch left turn on the steering wheel spline groove could have attained the centric position firmly. LASER pointer level device is useful for the adjustment to correct the horizontal errors. Periodical checking on the wheel alignment and suspension geometric construction is indispensable to keep the vehicle in the best condition with comfortable ride.

SXE10 TOYOTA Altezza alignment

After finishing wheel alignment correction on SXE10 TOYOTA Altezza, I have realized that the difference of wheel bases on both side should be corrected until the same value would be obtained and the importance of an even wheel base length is one of an indispensable element that an equivalent with another ones. Though some engineer says that the discrepancy on wheel base does not affect on steering feel or a very little if it happens, so paying attention on the value is not always necessary. Now, I can say that such kind of opinion or just a rumor is just a white lie on Earth! Just believe in an unreliable opinion that is not proved with Scientific method is nothing but dangerous at all. Without proving in a adequate way should not be discerned, instead the truth and fact should be proved and established them by oneself. Truth and the fact are completely different from just an opinion.

4 points of 4 wheels should form Isosceles Trapezoid(Exception; Diamond-shaped Parallelogram) because the tread values differ each other between front and rear. And the wheel base value is the same right and left, Isosceles Trapezoid is formed if been seen planting. This circumstance condition is indispensable requirement to establish the correct wheel alignment on vehicles. In order to extend right side wheel 4mm, the rear suspension main bar was loosened on fixing 4 bolts and applying force for twisting effect and tightened, no longitudinal effect happened as a matter of fact, so, the tension rod bracket at rear hub housing was modified to form long hole at 6mm value. According to this idea, the difference of 4 mm length was compensated by this method.

As mentioned before, LASER pointer Special Tool was utilized to measure and adjust the horizontal direction procedure and 1719,75 mm half diameter Pendulum device was applied for vertical trials promptly.
As the result, after my desperate efforts for two days advocating, my SXE10 Altezza goes like an arrow without being influence by external disturbance from uneven road surface condition, remarkable improvement of stability while straight running, reduction of rudder adjustment, just keeping the steering wheel at centric position is enough to keep going straight though the road inclination causes the increase of rudder pressure. It was not established for these 10 years to measure and adjust the wheel alignment and suspension constructive geometry were precisely measured, adjusted and corrected as mentioned above until I correct the discrepancy of wheel bases, in another words, until set-back and Swung-Rear-End should be corrected to adequate condition promptly.

Driving feel under this extraordinary accurate suspension condition cannot tell in words, but just feel a comfortable world.
All the standard of values were followed onto manufacturer's manual.
Front;Total toe 0, Camber minus 48 min
Rear; Total toe 2mm(at tire external position), Camber minus 55 min.

Difference of wheel bases

Sense of potential to go right side going bad habit on SXE10 TOYOTA Altezza and air-cooled VW 11D 1302 Super Beetle for a long time of period although Zero Thrust Axle Conditions are established with desperate effort utilizing self made Special Tools. So, I have checked the wheel base length promptly, as for my surprise, right side WB was 4,0 mm shorter than left one on SXE10, on the other hand, as for Super Beetle, right side was also 9,5mm short then the right, how come? The stories could be constructed fairly, both of the discrepancy can lead me to the conclusion that the cause of inconveniences are brought by that reason. Though, some difference of wheel bases on both side dose affect little on the drive feel among the engineers, I dare say, it affects and causes bad drive feel.
It is childish and primitive to measure with some device on anything, I don't find out another way to satisfy myself scientifically on Earth? The energy comes out in my heart after recognizing this kind of discrepancy, wanna I know the truth and the fact ASAP!
I'll check, measure and correct the discrepancies on my keeping vehicle now, report later.

3 blade propeller

Thanks to the stylish seeing to it that the exceptionally unusual present was included by the seller of YS 45 FR motor, very rare metallic spinner for 3 bladed propeller was included in the sent baggage together, so my long kept ASANO 3 blade Glass fiber Polyester prop could be used on Sukhoi 31 on which YS 60 FSR motor had been burdened. Because the braking and speed spoiling effect is enthusiastically required especially downing phase, Golf ball and Hour Glass in 15 pattern maneuver. Wanna I see the fact after the 3 blade performance. Slow and speed controllable flight is now prevailing in the field.
For the upper purpose, 4 cycle motors and Electric motors also belt down EP are the indispensable items, but remember here that the breaking effect is obtainable by the air spoiler and some adequate shape of the blade in combination with any adequate pitch value and also the increase of the blade number 3 or more like the WW2 period the latest Japanese Ente shape interceptor "Shinden" by Kyushu Airplane Industry?

YS 45 FR motor





Arrived YS 45 FR motor exhibited as a junk material was fully disassembled, cleaned and maintained as usual. Fitting between PC & cylinder has enough tightness as a ABC designed construction like a new one also no scratch on the surfaces was observed on both PC & cylinder. Tightness is not brought by rough handling such as over heating conditioned operation but by the result that had not been used for actual use.
Needle valve nozzle hole for fuel splaying was closed by sludge and vanish that is not a requirement for normal operation. Main driving bearing #6902 was replaced into NTN production with smaller balls but with increasing in number. Establishing all the requirement, miserable old motor YS 45 FR motor has revived as a superb 45 2 cycle motor just like a Phoenix.
Though the production of this model was over 30 years ago, the performance of this YS 45 motor cannot be exceeded by any other ones.

YS 45FR motor

A strong Spell by old YS 2 cycle motor's extraordinary performance forced me to bid 45FR motor that is an initial production with shiny silver head in YaHoo Auction at 1,100 yen last night. Looked rusty as it was, I have enough confidence to maintain it and survive again because I have several replacement parts to be incorporated. It would arrive at me in the beginning of next week after payment. Almost 30 years has passed since it's production, it has enough performance as the strongest 45 2-stroke motor, so I think, I don't know why the seller exhibited as a collection item?

Rainy today


Rainy condition today prevents me from going out for R/C flight, though all the batteries had been fully charged, how come? Coming Sunday is prepared for Pylon Racing at our flight place, so I must give up the flight this week. Consequently, my free today would be spent for preparing the new one, Majestic.
Wounded finger has almost recovered after a week interval, no tendency to be infected by bacteria nor bleeding again, fully covered by newly born epithelium tissue.
It is often the case that the models are suffered from the overheat phenomena of the motor especially 4-cycle on scale model with fully covering would. The cooling air flow is not enough to keep the cylinder temperature at some adequate condition leading to unstable rotation and some times motor stop. Though I have never experienced such an over heating condition, I applied air flow holes on the Su-31 as shown. Because the covering on the head top is fully opened, no overheating phenomena would not happen on YS 60 SR motor on boarded.

Epithelium & crusting

Isolation from mechanical irritation on the wounded part of my finger brought the remarkable healing for 4 days interval. Crusting in the cavity is observed and no pain if kept untouched. Applying Antibiotics paste into the cavity also oral dosing of the same Tetracycline prevents any bacterial infection of the Keratinized epithelium was tone as deep as connective tissue layer portion. Any way, the prevention of bacterial infection and cutting off of the physical stimulation there are the key to cure the damaged part of a human body quickly.

Got hurt!




Rotating nylon propeller on OS 25LA motor, 9by5 hit me on the tip left side ring finger yesterday, just because of lack of concentration and of making little of a small motor. This accident was the secondary one for me, the first was done by Super Tigre 46, 40 years ago on the test bench, right thumb finger at that time.

Test flight of Sukhoi Su-31 proved that the exhaust gas vibration has enough energy to destroy the construction of Super Toyoron with bias-like reinforcing fiber, any measure for this inconvenience should be considered. YS 60SR motor with earlier exhaust timing has good performance when used with Hattori tuned pipe. Sound is clear and stable at speed controlling phase. THC FS15 specific fuel for competition plays a good part of maneuver flight, 30% Nitro-Methan is not always necessary under a well pipe length adjustment, pipe-in condition.

40 Pylon Racer and 2 of OS 46 VF rear exhaust motors had been arrived at my hand. I must go ahead on F3D field also.  Combination of tuned pipe and 2 cycle speed racing motor has something different fun from another field. Controlling the exhaust gas is very interesting because it is difficult to understand.

Change

The change of atmospheric pressure pattern according to passing of the seasons invites heavy rain falls everywhere causing sediment disasters involving miserable victims. Before long, it rained so heavy cats and dogs being drenched to the skin.
40 Pylon Racer motor, OS 40 SR, Super Tigre X40 and K&B 6,5cc were already prepared at hand finishing overhaul maintenance, in addition, OS 46 VF motors would arrive tomorrow from a seller in Tochigi Pref. with 40 Pylon Racer model airplane for F3D competition. Anyway, my future direction has determined to Pylon Racing, "Livets" would be fabricated soon.

Super Tigre X40

Crank shaft supporting bearings on Super Tigre X40 were successfully removed by heating the crank case. 6001 and 607 were the standard numbers promptly. They would be replaced into Japanese made ones NSK though original ones might be useful. Just replacing bearing and cleaning thoroughly would recover it original performance. ABC cylinder sleeve is clean and shiny, no problem.

Clogged and stuck Super Tigre X40 Pylon motor was disassembled with some effort this morning. Cylinder was tightly adhered with crank case and not a little exertion was required in the stage, also cutting off the connection of the drive shaft in combination with crank shaft required some special tool, a piston ring for 60 motor was utilized for the purpose. All the sticky material was consisted of the fuel inclusion of ricinus, castrol and it was degenerated and alternator producing odd smell. As all the moving parts are alive like new including supporting bearings, this specially fabricated Super Tiger would survive like a phoenix soon.
Also, K&B 6,5cc and OS 40 SR for Pylon have arrived obtained from YaHoo Auction, Finished 40 Pylon Racer would arrive from Tochigi Pref. tomorrow, consequently, my curiosity has some inclination to F5D Speed Pylon field recently.

Destroyed balance between nose moment and tail moment on both Sukhoi 31 and Majestic were compensated by forming some extended constructions on the mounting surfaces. Over 200gr nose weight on Sukhoi 31 would be eliminated by this arrangement and Majestic would play a good parts for F3A maneuver drawing in the sky.

Modified Majestic 1400


Extension of the wing span 14 cm and that of the fuselage 15cm permits YS 45 SR 2 cycle motor without any inconvenience on originally designed for 32 to 40 class motor, Majestic. Vulnerability of the construction on the stabilizer and rudder was compensated by lightning with making halls and reinforcement with Polyester grass fiber material. The unbreakable and durable construction on the model airplane sometimes invites unnecessary weight increase leading to spoiling of active maneuver actions. on the other hand, my way to one grade size up of originally designed bulk would produce much lighter airplane. Of course, various measures might be required and time consuming procedure as it is to modify original construction, still it is the task worth doing to me. Strength of barely and much lighter construction are the indispensable physical property for a pure competition model.

Alignment

It is not an easy task for me to reconstruct the main wings of ARF(Almost Ready to Fly) model airplane, peeling of the covering film, cutting off them in two pieces evenly like a fish cooking, putting wobbly constructions on the jig with the best precision with applying glue material in the adequate amount and holding them in the best postures eliminating any discrepancy.
Obtaining the good main wing without any distortion or skews is the key to fabricate the competition revel model airplane, also this is the fundamental requirement to win the contest awards. Desperate effort to do like this in order to eliminate any discrepancy should be rewarded surly. Good maneuver reaction would be obtained with the least modifying rudder angles.
However, adjustment and correction on the main wing construction are similar with those of wheel alignment and constructive axle geometry in the automobile that has been done those ten years.

Discord



The right side main wing of Majestic 1400 was cut in two pieces horizontal direction as usual because of inevitable discrepancy, distorted and skewed malconstruction. I have never experienced that I got the correctly assembled and fabricated main wings on both side when I bought ARF model, whenever I got that, I was obliged to do the same at least one of the wings or both of them.
Skewed main wing brings various kind of bad habit at whatever speed it might fly in any maneuver situation, so, any distortion born in the production process should be eliminated as much as we can if the airplane is used as a competition device. The more accurately the fabrication should be done, the better for competitive maneuver situation.
Also, original covering film on the wings was thoroughly peeled and removed, because, the inconvenience of covering film leading to the accident is already reported in the Web site.

Today 69 years ago we Emperor Japan accepted Potsdam Statements by the Enemy countries, yes, we were defeated completely by them, in spite of the truth of loosing WW2, NHK broad cast says it Anniversary of the End of the War?
It is nothing but a fundamental misunderstanding to say it just "The End of War", because we are not a victorious nation at all, in stead, we were defeated by US military power completely with 2 Atomic Bombs! Thanks to that strategy, we are still now in apprenticeship for US, no?

Curare 60

"Obon" holiday season has started and our relatives has already arrived to us yesterday resulting the destruction of daily peaceful calm passage of time. All the highway are fully occupied already by the passenger's cars those are turning back to their hometown now.

The dry weight of Curare 60 was measured this morning, containing with the Hattori tuned pipe at adequate length position, resulting 3,425 was the data. This Curare 60 was an original Kato Model Co. produced 40 years ago and 100% fabricated by myself and the discrepancies on fuselage, on squad stabilizer and elevators were corrected promptly and set up at adequate relating position, zero to zero attack angle between main wing and stabilizer were precisely established including another 3 dimensional positions. So, this one would be put into the sky after 40 years sleeping absence soon in the condition of burdening the most sophisticated radio equipment, FUTABA 10J or 18MZ, no apology is allowed to put the cause of any accidental reason on the business of radio function such as frequency interference. About the YS 60SR motor, no anxiety exist on the tuned pipe header length, because I have had enough datum while the actual experimental training done about 30 years ago.
