11AD Beetle in trouble

The motor of an air-cooled VW Beetle 11AD does not start at all? Very similar phenomena was experienced when the capacitor,  forming L/C circuitry with ignition coil, on the distributor had been broken two years ago. Immobile Beetle was deserted just in front of prior to several train stations at that time with a tag written as "Out of order" and it was repaired at lunch time on the same day informing the private things to the Police jurisdiction. Since that affair, I make it a rule to carry about an assembly of the distributor with my Beetle. I will try to repair the ignition system tomorrow after noon. Over 40 years Old car does not permit me to go without anxiety.

Successfully passed!



Though I had some anxieties about the Legal Inspection at Kobe Ohgi Hyogo Land Transport Office, I have succeeded in passing the test this morning. The head light axis was just determined and carried out by myself utilizing the 30m gap of ordinary poles on the side of the road, so it was the first time for me to be tested without a professional light axis tester. In addition, the break line was modified as bypassing the ABS unit. They were the points that I was worried, but nothing happened to argue about my adjustment and modification. I feel some inconvenience while ordinary running at night, the axis is too low to recognize the a illegal direction's high speed bicycle, so the height of low beam would be returned as it had been, because of traffic safety, of course, the adjusting angle value should be met that no oncoming vehicle on the opposite lane should not be dazzled at all.

BC7 Legal inspection

Because the axle construction of BC7 SUBARU Legacy LSi US model had been thoroughly replaced lust year, the head light axis direction had been changed to upward. Tomorrow is the day for periodical Legal Inspection! The adjustment should be done earlier than today, I found out some miserable result! The adjusting mechanism horizontal and vertical direction on both sides are out of order! The constructive gears and pins are all broken at all, how come? Then some inspiration comes out in my mind, the insertion of adjusting sim between the light unit and supporting base would make it possible to change the head light direction as to meet with the legal requirements. The work would be done after work this evening no matter how late at night to come to the goal. The short cut of breaking oil pressure circuitry bypassing ABS system might be pointed out by the inspector at The Land Transportation Office in Kobe, but, I had checked about the necessity of pre-filling about this modification, unnecessary. Let's see what will happen tomorrow?

Motors and alignments

A test flight of Rooky10 yesterday early in the morning proved considerable discrepancy might be remained in the rolling direction, too much aileron trim to left direction was the result. And careful checking on the wing construction jig revealed that twisting on the right side of the main had still twisting down at the edge, horizontal cutting operation as usual was performed and adhered again in the correct alignment. I have realized that an even 25 motor can draw F3A P15 patterns, so, I might participate in the F3A competition with this Rooky 10 trainer airplane for beginners, I wanna see what will happen among avions centrale all of them are determined the ultimate under the regulation, the maximum weight 5kg and the wing span 2,000mm length are regulated but minimum of them are not done?

As for OS MAX 25FSR motor on Rooky20, 2 sheets of 0,100mm thickness gaskets took effect well, it rotate 9-5 Graupner Super Nylon prop over 12,000rpm with THC 1000R 30% Nitro-Methane included fuel. So, the result proved that too high compression motor does not play with high Nitro fuel, following to my old information from an engineer of the ordinary, ordinary OS motors are so designed to operate under 5 to 7% Nitro inclusion fuel, on the other hand, Super Tiger Italian motors are done on the plane fuel without additive, Alcohol and lubricant only. Without such kind of important information, I could not operate well the Super Tiger motor 46.

400km test running on the highway with BC7 SUBARU Legacy LSi US model proved great improvement in steering action after a very important thrust adjustment, the discrepancy rate was 2minutes and 36 seconds plus direction. The number of steering centric correction while straight running has remarkably decreased. But, still now I feel some lack of steering stability while straight running compared with XH200 Opel B-Vectra with excessive negative cambers on both front and rear, minus 60 minute and minus 90 minutes promptly, so, increasing the amount of negative camber value from 15minutes to 30minutes might solve this problem on Legacy?

SUBARU BC7 Thrust adjustment

216,50 seconds as the adjusted thrust angle value was on BC5 SUBARU Legacy LSi US model yesterday, the improved change of steering action was observed, strange wondering bad habit disappeared. Only 2,7mm adjusting value on the board with 2573,70mm distance, as shown on the LASER pointed position, could be worth being adjusted like that. 2 water fulfilled plastic tanks and a pale can with used motor oil full were arranged onto driver's seat to reproduce the actual driving condition of weight balance.



Remembering the past when all the axle construction including main bar bushes had been replaced a year ago, no measurement nor adjusting of this automobile were performed, so, such amount of discrepancy might occur as a matter of fact however precisely the initial adjustment might have been done. This first generation SUBARU would continue long from now, because no critical problem nor failure both mechanically and electrically were found on this. My car hobby would be sustainable, so long as mon monde continuera.

Deeper discussion

I studied much early this morning in NHK TV program, about the proverb "The original intention not to forget." I thought that the maxim taught us, we should keep in mind the original shalt however better getting accustomed to the object, but the understanding by "Zeami" was different. We often come across with some barrier or wall to be overcame and to be conquered by oneself, at that time we should come back to the initial point and measure carefully step by by step as a layman, so the point exist in every situation encountered, and it would continue unlimitedly at all. However much aged we might do.

About my old hobby, a model airplane with a small 2 cycle gas motor does not run so smooth as I desire and test running yesterday revealed the countermeasure by applying 2 pieces of 0,10mm thickness gasket spacers was to the point. OS MAX 25 FSR motor runs strong with good combustion sound at over 12,000 RPM under the burdening of Graupner Super Nylon prop 9-5,0. In addition, muffler pressure into fuel tank might cause some oxidization of residual fuel and returned one may cause any very inconvenient phenomenon in the hole of fuel in the can, oxidation and degeneration? The fuel pressure system by YS makes use of crank case first pressure, so the exhaust gas has nothing to do with oxidization if the residual fuel in the take has been returned instinctively, but muffler pressure system has some disadvantage like this. A best care must be taken to treat with the residual fuel from now.
Careful observations on a trifle and small trainer model airplane like Rooky20 gives me many opportunities to be examined, to study and to return to initial point of my own situation.

Model motor combustion


OS MAX 25FSR motor gives me some opportunity to make research about so to speak "Combustion". It is not operated good enough to satisfy my demands for drawing maneuver pattern such as F3A competition, just produces sludge in the cylinder and piton top, in addition the rotational condition is not smooth using my familiar fuel THC 1000R 30% NitroMethane that had been used for long period of time for 60 motor operation. Finally came I the conclusion that the compression ratio is too high resulting knocking and detonation phenomena. So, I have prepared several pieces of 0,10mm thickness gaskets to reduce the ratio, test running on the bench of 25FSR motor shows some improvement and combustion note has changed from that of hard to hear sound into smooth and mild comfortable to do sound. I have determined to make researched only on the focused point, "Combustion". Tuned pipe setting technology for 2 cycle motor on YS60 FR had been established already, the purpose of revived my Radio Controlled Model Airplane Life is to know the best combustion condition in 2 cycled model motors after some collections of detailed operating datum on the combustion.

Clinical mistake

Bleeding traces of the peripheral blood vessels and infiltration was observed resulted adhered fracture when peeling the adhesive tape stuck to the shoulder portion ie, epithelium peeled. It was nothing but my own mistaking at all, bear in my mind that there exists such kind of adhesive tape to cause an irreversible tissue destruction and this is said especially on a geriatric patients. Even some long period of experiences for as long as a half century are not enough to treat patient perfect, however carefully I might examine with best cares, stacks of efforts and experiences would continue continuously till I go as one of a clinical general practitioner.

Wing correction



The corrections of the twisted main wing and the stabilizer revealed the incompatibility of moving parts of the wing such as ailerons and elevators that had been joined the flats by deception at the beginning, so intentionally distorted parts should be corrected one by one with the same manner applied on the wing part correction. All the deceptive parts should be corrected and eliminated into Zero thrust conditions. Sober and steady efforts of corrections like this not an interesting nor an easy tasks, but surely it would be rewarded as a result at all. And the result obtained after the correction resembles that of automobile's Zero Thrust establishment.

Astral X60




Astral X60 also disappointed me after a precise observation on the constructive accuracy especially the condition of the main wing twisted and vented distortion. Right side construction had some ugly discrepancy both twisting up to the end and also deflection to upper direction, this kind of poor fabrication has nothing to do with a critical competition use model. In spite of higher priced tag, this production was off at all. Consequently, the right side main wing before working was cut into two pieces at the central horizontal line as same as the tail wing of Curare 60 and Saphia 60 without any hesitations. Any errors and distortions in it's alignment should be eliminated to ALAP, if the flyer wants to win in the competition. Basically, just a toy like model airplane for an ordinary Sunday flyer and the precisely fabricated one for a competition applicant are completely different each other.

You too, Su-31?


Careful checking on the main wing of Sukhoi Su-31 40 produced by Kyosho proved negligible discrepancy with twisting down to edge on both side though the rate of distortion differs promptly, of course this twisted phenomena should be corrected into zero thrust at any rate before fabrication. Obtaining the main wing with ultimate accuracy that has nothing to do with any distortion is a key to a happy Radio Control Model Airplane Life that I hope in future from now, I'm sure to do that tomorrow.
Though I want to go out to the flying place of holidays, too cold weather condition these days prevents me from doing that.

"Saphia" by W.Matt




The main wing of Saphia designed by one of a famous champ in F3A field Wolfgang Matt in Lichtenstein was also corrected, this model airplane has larger wing area compared with another ones, probably it's suitable motor might be not 60 but 90? For about 30 years this was thrown away untouched because of critical assembly defect, main wing twisting on the right side, and made I up my mind to correct and fix exactly utilizing the same methods as I applied on the stabilizer of Curare 60. Considerable discrepancy was found and corrected in aligned condition and this would show me straightforward rudder reaction in 3 dimensions. Operation should be performed on the primary tumor, and the same thing is said on the airplane with a distorted wing by twisting. The airplane would not fly well if some discrepancy might be corrected only by assisting moving wing or tab adjustments. Straight wing in correct alignment would be required for competition model.

Curare 60 reconstruction



Accomplishment of difficult and the most important step was performed spending all day long of yesterday. It is one of an indispensable requirement for any airplane to establish the 3 dimensional alignment of wings including moving ones. I can say here, the alignment could not be consisted without the dense and precise works utilizing some adequate measuring instruments and devices, such as a vernier caliper and a parallelometer. As it is the work that is nothing but a time consuming and troublesome with requiring desperate efforts involving ultimate concentration and keen observation, it is one of a fate to be forced constructor's way. In order to keep the performance quality for the contest requirement the model airplane should be fabricated in the manner of ultimate precision of 3 dimensions.
It is true that there exist several professional builders in the field of model airplane competition mainly for Nippon Championship tournament players, considerably a plenty of money must be pre-reserved and wait some long period of time to obtain it. It is fabricated beautiful and glossy so much with geometric and align accuracy leading to easy adjusting and stable flight. So, the airplane would fly well or not is able to determine at a glance in the contest venue, so some foreign  famous builder had said over 30 years ago. My intention is that the precisely fabricated airplane should fly as well as that made by some professional builder or exceeds if it is done by an ordinary layman and also it does not look well? I'm going to prove this hypothesis this year by make myself to be an applicant to the future contests this year relying on only my own efforts and capability.
