I would like to take pride in the fact that I could adjust a fully mechanical carburetor, Bocal 34PICT3 as to pass the exhaust gas checking in Legal Inspection for that for ongoing every two years, Carbon mono-Oxide 1,2%/4,5% and Hydro Carbon 884PPM/1,200PPM. Judging from the balance of the datum, just a bit richer adjustment might be possible to obtain more comfortable response.
The carburetor system had been replaced from Solex to Bocal few month ago, of course latter one was disassembled and serviced by myself previously resulting the situation to adjust and to set two screws for air volume and idling adjusting from the beginning. It was not so eye opening and surprising result if the task was established without any measuring devices, because it was regarded as an easy task for me to do like that in my way from the beginning.
I have an experience to have kept special French automobile for applying WRC competition, Peugeot Talbot 205 Rallye with 1,300cc and WEBER mechanical side draft carburetors for as long as 10 years maintaining her by myself.
It took me relatively long time to find out the way to adjust to set up 4 idle screws in twin carburetor with their sweetest position promptly. After establishing the way to do that perfectly, any anxiety disappeared in my mind to adjust mechanical carburetor however not a single ones might be equipped even 4 carburetors would be possible if the conditions other than all together were settled.
Keeping the motor rotation about 3,000 RPM utilizing only the spraying nozzles for middle speed, then seek the critical point of just starting the spraying at idle adjusting screw, because the idle adjusting screw controls both air and fuel together.
In another word, the key to success the adjusting is find out the very initial position of starting point of the spraying.
Once the points were found out, it's the same as finished.
As it is said on all the mechanical carburetors that the key to success depends only on the fine adjustment on idling adjustment, because it affects not only in idling stage but also all the transition of rotation of the motor.
