2 German Autos




When I started to remove the ignition plugs from GM X20 motor equipped in XH200 B-Vectra, I found out some problems, the 1st is the plug cap of #4 cylinder is dipped in Eg oil and the 2nd is the terminal side of #1 cylinder is also covered with the oil till being drenched to the deep inside. For the first one, the cause must be a oil leak from the formed space(ware) between a valve stem and valve guide including valve guide oil seal parts, and latter one is done by ill sealing effect of head cover sealing rubber material on O ring set at the plug portion. What shall I do, pretend to be unknown or do that with brave, it's the problem? Remember that the 2 years Legal Inspection was passed by this Vectra few days ago, so I must keep this at least 2 years from now to digest the residual period of time!

Total accumulated driving distance showed 44,444km in total from the production 40 years ago, next arranging would be the time after 11,111km more probably next year. As I mentioned on VW 1302 Super Beetle, I have applied a piece of thin rubber sheet in the space between rear trailing outer bush and it's covering cap on both side. This would compensate the backlash caused by butyl rubber bush permanent distortion and waring. Even the application at the outer surface of the original bush, the existing inner space would be closed according to the covering parts tightening.
The result of the procedure was as the same as I imagined prior to the work. Steering astringency has far improved.
Stability of steering while straight run has done as also the same.
Initial stage of steering rising action became sharper.
Less steering angle is required on a usual curvature than before.
Right side habit tendency(very slight as to be ignored) became apparent compared with before.
The existed compliance has decreased leading to a slightly harder riding taste on the rear axle.
Replaced head cover sealing and application of liquid sealing material at the same time stopped nervous oil leak.
