When I do it is this afternoon to remove the empty fuel tank from VW 1302 Super Beetle, intending to check the functions on steering universal joint equipped under the tank and to apply new boots on the joints.
Ball recircuｌating steering worm gear system would be checke at the same time and the oil inside would be replaced into 85W-90 hypoide gear oil that's same as manual transaxle gear box oil. And with the hope to continue it's life so long, some Teflon material would be added together with oil.
Right handled 1302 Super Beetle would finish it's life when steering gear box might go away, so said in VW world, because the parts are not available any more.
