Brake maintenance

The most important matter to continue driving an automobile occurred in my mind, the maintenance of brake calipers in XH200 OPEL B-Vectra have not been performed for 15 years from the beginning. Disassembling the calipers and cleaning the surfaces on cylinders and pistons, because they must be covered with sludge and banish partially, those spoils the braking pedal touch in the transient.

This kind of inconvenience proceeds gradually, so the user has difficulty to recognize the changing of the reaction. As a tricky method, just rotating the pistons 180 degree without disassembling would often improve the pedal reaction, this is because of displacing the slipping surfaces each other. But remember here, some brake fluid leak may happen in case the sludge may huge enough to destroy the piston sealing.

Not only brake calipers, but also brake master cylinder must be maintained B-Vectra with 150,000 km being used for 15 years and also BC7 SUBARU Legacy LSi US model with 140,000 km for 20 years. This indispensable maintenance must be performed without any arguments before critical traffic accident might happen.
Sealing rubber cup kit for BC7 has been obtained but for B-Vectra has not yet, see to it immediately!

As for SXE10 TOYOTA Altezza, NCP10 Vitz, BLE SUBARU B4 3L and VW 1302 Super Beetle, servicing on brake systems are not so urgent business.

According to the information, brake fluid #4 requires the replacement every year because of the physical property to consume the moisten in the , though Audi A3 DSG 1,4L model has #4 being specified by the manufacture?
I would never change the brake fluid into some different property because no problem has been happened if #3 was continued for these 40 years.
Probably coming holidays would be occupied by automobile maintenance as usual.
