Western 349A




Introducing DIY low frequency amplifier, ancient tube drived on a famous circuitry.
The Western 349As are used for power tube, pentode but incredibly with no negative feed back. According to my experiences on pentode only these 349A required no feed back with marvelous, clear and transparent sound in high and middle ranges. Delay timer is for ancient tube heater protections. Drivers are Russian recent 6SN7 SRPP circuitry as usual.
Photo shows inside of the trial case, an amateur's wiring technology but the soldering were certainly done.

Stuffy




My Tomy taking a knap on the step is not sleeping but is watching me with shallow eyes in this stuffy and lazy climate. Now is the most unpleasant period of time through the year, let's overcome this hard season with the best cares.
Thanks to precise wheel adjustments on 5 vehicles at my hand, all of them goes without inconveniences, though minor troubles were left unserviced. The troubles have nothing to do with the fundamental performances, running, turning and stopping, this is why left undone, but I'm going to solve the residual problems gradually.
New race? I found out near the bitch this living thing, without eyes? Thin but relatively long, like earthworm but the shape of head is different, what's this.
Anyway no living thing does not exists without any reason.

APO-Summicron R 2/180


Leitz APO-Summicron R 2/180 lens is one of the best tele-lens that I've ever experienced. Digital format is regarded as a precise lens performance test device. Leitz company once designed the lenses according to the principle, "The KANTE theory". That is the special design to achieve the tree dimensional edge sharpness, in the designing some aberrations were permitted if necessary to the purpose. Japanes factory were seeking the best answer only on the planes, on two dimensions. Even 50 years ago the target were different between them.
Now digital format proves the validity of the "KANTE Theory".

Silver salt cameras




Ancient Leitz lens before Leica 35mm, Summar 12cm f/4,5 is the macro and close up purposed also developing usage. I did modified to adopt to 67 format with DIY adapter manufacturing including helicoid mechanisms. Hektor 125mm for portrate lens is also interchangeable, in addition, as the lens itself has helicoid construction on the frontal part so the double helicoid system is established leading to the capability to closer up than original design. The interchangeability to 645 format is established on both lenses, adapter systems are so designed.

Joint noise

Frontal drive shaft makes noise on the right side, checked last time by removing the boot over outer joint ? While turnig to the left the noise is increased. Additionally the noise becoming louder and louder day by day. The reason must be the ill fitting between joint balls and coller inside. In order to solve this critical ploblem replacement of the parts, drive shaft assembly is required, it's relatively troublesome, yes I'm keeping spare parts by chance, picking up deserted replacement parts at dealer's pit. The task on NCP10 TOYOTA Vitz would be performed in very near future.
Things does not go so smoothly as easily desired.

Lens Design


Technology in photographic field has completely changed in these ten years, professional printing fields also.
The image quality is dictated by the lens used, this principle is not changed even now, in digitalized generation. So the best corrected on aberrations one becomes bigger and heavier in lens element's design. My favorite Leitz Apo-Telyt-R 2,8/280 weighs 3700gram on earth! I've been using this equipment heavier than US M16 Rifle(3,000gram).

Now I know that the sofisticated computerized lens design has made it possible far smaller and far lighter, in aberrations correction utilizing some enginering plastic molding of aspherical lenses.
This technology has been obtained by Panasonic company, but now it's patent may be opened, like ancient Gaussian design for standard focal length.
It's absolutely true that the technology must have contributed in the lens designing field.

Leica M3 single stroke with M-Summicron f2 second generation is shown on the left side.
Disassembling and overhauling this Leica M3 is the long term dream for 30 years as in my favorite condition, including even distance measurement device inside. Few years ago I made it possible to produce special tool with self-curing acrylic resin material. The task takes all day long from disassembling to final distance measurement device adjusting and checking,
Very accurate distance gauge is the vest advantage for M3, but hung on a second here.
The focal length changes according to the F value positioned at that time, slightly but differs, knowing this fact on the sweetest point the gauge is adjusted at F4,0 with the linearity of proposition.

Maintenace or Remodeling

We must make the definitions clear before description, the maintenance of autos is to keep the originally designed performance by adjusting devices and the replacement of periodical replacement genuine parts according to service manual. Remodeling is to change the original performance into more condition than original design. So, many third parties are producing better performance parts in the different markets, with stupid advertisments they are dealing good. But an amateur or a layman may be easily moved by exaggerated promos, because they have no way to know the strains caused by changing to original designs.
Remember any automobiles are so designed with desperate efforts in the factory to balance in all directions. Even some change for example, driver's seats into sport type like RECARO, easily destroys the ballance. Then what'll happen? The driver would feel the lack of stability, suspensions, shock absorbers, brake system and engine mounts including tras-axle mounts also arm bushes. It's apparent that the critical design is broken by shallow understandings.
It's true there are many lost person in third party parts shops, they will never find the way until they make themselves know the truth.
They must make efforts in datum collections with the same skill as professional engineers and with the expensive special devices equipped in the car productive companies?

Though I'm relieved to have released from complicated adjusting of mechanical WEBER side draft carburetter, Simtec 55,6 system caused similar complications on earth that's equipped on XH200 Opel Vectra. ECU controlled motor should perform accurate reactions according to main programs, but Siemens designed E jetro system does not, never work well !
The mal-functions are caused by the less reliability of several sensors and poor wiring materials. So almost of users have already thrown away the Opel Vectra within ten years using interval, in another words much complecated servicing works are required to continue longer this nervous vehicle.
A quire way of thinking may exist like that it's interesting because of the difficulties to overcome involving much problems on special vehicle Vectra.
Exactly the same thing is said on the behaviors of the life partner, Xanthippe.
She scolds me like a bad trained dog, if the circumstantial conditions are different from her way of thinking even on trifle thing.
The good way to go with the partner is to accept and to recommend her, recently studied I the way, let me accept all of her if she may be inadequate for me, because she is not so good our life is interesting, otherwise it may be monotonous and boring.

Check Engine


Check engine lamp turned on this morning in Vectra meter cluster! Ignition timing is fixed by ECU at programmed value, so not with timing advancing is performed, trans-axle has no problem 1st to 4th,OK, but unexplainable bad feeling exists under abnormally controlled condition.
Recovering after 10km running occured like nothing wrong had been happened, how come ?
Probablly the electric circuitry in crank angle sensor must have some problem, occasional opening or shortening, the trouble must be recorded in ECU and can be known with some method by myself, reading memories by shortening #5 and #6 pins in OBD2 coupler as usual. In case the crank angle sensor was defected, very difficult and troublesome replacement procedures are waiting for me, oh!
Now it's the reason to prevent me from accessing to the OBD coupler.
How come? This moment new trouble! My Xanthippe is travelling outside to Niigata and Sendai and I'm spending so calm, stable and comfortable moment alone?

Young Singer



The post card from US reminds me of very nice concert by Kyoko Ogawa in the begining of this year at Nishinomiya in Hyogo pref. Judging from her age, only 23 years old, I had not desired too much, but my pre-imaginations was reversed completely to have listened to her songs there.
Her extraordinary potentials to express artistry was surprisingly above words, melody rhythm and harmony were perfect on earth, anyway she had enough capabilities to move all the audiences.
She is studying in New York now, I'm looking forward to the next concert here in Japan again.
Student in the music school as she is, enough capability as a professional has she now already.
Finding out her singing on the stage, April 19th, 2010 at 7:30 pm Miller Recital Hall, 34:40.

Kyoto Ichizawa Hampu

Battery & Alternator


Lead battery is an indispensable device for an automobile, this is a common sense going without saying. But the replacement of the alternator on XH200 Opel Vectra obliged me to change the recognition on the part of playing in automobile. Great advance on the X20 engine was percieved after the alternator replacement into new one, leading me to the conclusion that the electricity supplier is not the lead battery but the alternator, the task for the battery is only to rotate the starter motor and first explosion in engine cylinder also suppling electric devices, ECU, fuel pump and injectors, etc. So the main electric supplier is the alternator once after motor starting.
If the connection with battery may be cut, the automobile can continue, so the battery play only a part of big bulk condensor or capacitor.
Conclusively the performance of automobile alternator is the vest important than lead battery.

EP82 advantage



Even 20years ago EP82 TOYOTA Starlet has been equipped ABS system as an optional choice. And ignitions timing is not fully controled but with distributer through high tention plug codes, the advantage of this ancient distrivutor is adjustable ignition timings.
Though very recise adjusting by actual running test is required, I'm capable to put it on sweetest point on earth.

Peaceful place



The Sakura-Hill Park near by my neighborhood commands a fine view of Osaka Plaine, Osaka Airport is in the center, watching carefully, landing jet plane is in the photo.

I make it a rule to take a breakfast there listening to Ying song, the most peaceful place for me.
For more than 40 years cherry trees here on the hill are well taken care of and nourished so gently by the tree doctors. Thank to their deeper effort without sluggishness, we can enjoy cherry blossoms in full bloom every year.

Auto performance

Desired original performance on XH200 Opel Vectra was obtained, running, turning and stopping, except it's air conditioning system. Basically I'm not interested in pleasant recreational equipments for automobiles, only the heater is enough for me in winter cold weather.
Air conditioning is the outside air comming into the cabin. The weight of the conditioning system, compressor, condensor, evaporator and pressure hoses, 20kg in total is a aggravating factor for important steering action.
Audio is discerned not in the small auto-cabin but in the established audio-room in my house, any pseudo noises while driving from the car speaker prevent me from enjoying the motor sounds.
Power window system is also 20kg in total, not so important for me.
Power steering system is 20kg in addition, any assistance in steering linkage spoils the informations from the ground, so quick steering response is not always necessary, more accurate and stable lower gear ratio is desired instead.
The lighter the better, this fundamental physical property never be changed, so the method of reducing weight is the best way to obtain the ultimate vehicle's performance.

Heat prevention




Prevention from the heat of exhaust manifold to secondary air pump hose was performed today for XH200 Opel Vectra. Bicycle tire tube was rolling on the spinner handle and inserting into the hose firmly,then role backed down, relatively easy task today.

2NZ-FE




NCP10 TOYOTA Vitz has brake assist system, activating additive brake power when weakly but quickly brake pedal is pushed down on appling additional vacuum power from vacuum tank. This control is done by ECU with some signals of emergency situation. I feel worse on this system, just it's a too kind to feel thankful.
Finally I stopped vacuum circuitry with the method of inserting small ball in the connecting hose, becomming far better without the assist.

Finding out vibration canceller on Eg mount of 2NZ-FE motor. This small part here plays a part of progress on NVH establishment.

The joint on my left leg ached with inflamation yesterday, but with antibiotics ,Cephalosporin, my body condition recovered. Remembering the surgical operation the day before yesterday in the evening, I smelled some odd for a few seconds while cutting out infectious cronic tissue in the patient's body. My lung must have been infected by some bacteria at that time, may be Staphylococcus aureus.

Vectra restoration


Critical periodical replacement parts on XH200 Opel Vectra were safely exchanged into certain ones after 150,000km running, they are an electric fuel pump, an alternator BOSCH 120A, a starter motor with new magnetic relay switch including 4 shock absorbers. So they are free from any care while the more same distance running in future and in best conditioned as a vehicle fundamentally.
Only the problem left is an air conditioning system, the most boring one, but though it takes time, I'll overcome soon, sure !

Relatively big knocking noise on purge control valve-control valve realized me some mistake, disconnecting vacum hose, on NCP10 TOYOTA Vitz, since the time air filter checking.
Immediately after connecting hose to the valve, some rough idle phenomena was recognized, but stability was recovered few seconds later, ascertaining the capability of ECU studing acquired different running environments, throttle vacuum balance inflections.

Auto parts price?


Once called as for automobile, the price comes up to twice sometimes to ten times, especially that of molded hose. Photo shows crank case ventilation connective hose and plastic L shaped parts arranged with general parts at below 200yen. This part was destroied when the defected radiator had been replaced by mistake, originally trifle oil catch plastic tank was applied on the gray L shaped portion. I knew in the WEB site the parts costed as much as 6,500yen if genuine expensive ones were applied there, how come ?

Dispelling the fear factors is indispensable for automobile drivers, so after 150,000km and 13years usded one needs parts replacements.
This time following parts were replaced for eliminating fears.
Electric fuel pump.
Alternator 120A BOSCH.
Magnetic relay switch on starter motor.
Shock absorbers and attendant rubber parts.

Complicated tasks

Replacement of rear shock absorbers on XH200 Opel Vectra has induced those of rear ones, but the desperate two days effort last holidays carried up some damage on my let leg, just a joint pain. So today's working on vehicles would be smaller scaled, in spite of earnest upper desires.
Anyway the performance has been far improved by recent parts replacement self-works like new vehicle.
Today's task would be starter motor replacement on EP82 TOYOTA Starlet and it's frontal camber and toe adjustments.
Both of them are not so easy tasks but not so difficult, just relatively complicated and troublesome.

Too high temp. outside prevent me from comming to working pit. While I was replacing the frontal upper mounts on XH200 Opel Vectra last time, some defect were found on the strut thrust bearings on both side, small granular sands come into the bearing balls and between the laces upper and lower, causing the destruction of smooth circular movements, leading to inconvenient movement at inconvenient positin, loosening of lock nuts on strut mounts.
The cause of this matter is lack of dust seal part in short, any bearing must be dust sealed if it is used outside, not sealed and not enough oil lubrication.
So, I made up my mind to utilize TOYOTA genuine parts on Vectra, #90303-22049 dust seal @157yen, or SUBARU metallic same parts, trial fitting would make the decision.
They are going to be set firmly when frontal shock absorber replacements.

These kind of description may be taken as professional's one, but I'm an outsider in different occupation.
Opel B-Vectra is one of an endangered species, so importer now stopped Opel brand already, refusing after servicing. Additionally the more difficulties for servicing on Vectra prevent ordinal private servicing factory from supporting so freely.

The reason why I write everyday is the daily habit as usual lasting for several years, as a personal computer works lightly and quickly if the unnecessary files were eliminated, so my heavy cortex becomes lighter and free after describing some logical constructions, the language for the purpose does not matter in any way.

Interesting report







Very interesting movie showed by the enthusiastic Opel B-Vectra owner, the representative Opel Yokahama Owner's Club.
As I mentioned before the trailing arm hinge bush plays a part of shock absorbing player, actually the movie proved the pivot movement of the point. This is a new design to gain the comfortability utilizing lower arm bush's vertical compliance with fulcrum action. He says
the movement was not only vertical but also horizontal ones, this anterior and posterior movement may compensate the disadvantage of wheel base shortening when compressed by roling moment, basically this phenomena is inevitable because of frontal caster angle and steering axis inclination. He gave me another interesting informations to be investigated on lateral action of automobile.
Anyway I appreciate him as one of an indispensable scientific researcher in another field.

Life of auto

Automobile can be used at least 200,000km, the motor and the automatic transaxle are so designed for 20 years, if the periodical replacement parts are replaced according to factory manual. Then one auto or two ones are enough for a individual family use.
The servicing on XH200 Opel Vectra this time, replacement of critical and fundamental parts means that the life of 13 years used Vectra has attained more 150,000km and 13years life, an alternator, a starter motor, a electric fuel pump and shock absorbers with rubber insulators. Consequently I'm obliged to continue with her more 13 years in future, it's OK.

Fine but sleepy




Too much muscle fatigue prevented me from falling a good sleep last night, my emotional tention was strong enough to keep me awake till 2 o'clock middle of the night,it's unlikely. But, morning radio athletics was helpful to recover myself. Today's task is decided already, shock absorber replacements, but they may be changed, up to my body condition leater today, depending on deeper consideration for tomorrow's works.

Replacement of the alternator on XH200 Opel Vectra brought remarkable improvement on Engine performance, it might not be improvement but just regaining of innate performance, it's only so to speak the recovery.
Remembering the past, she required recharging in own lead battery once every two and a half weeks, proved the defect on rectifier inside of alternator by means of oscilloscope checking, gazing at ripple wave shape carefully on sweep mode.Though the device was ancient tube amplified model TRIO, it was so helpful as to know the charging error, showing typically just the lack of one of 3phase alternative current wave shapes.
Opening one piece of diode in rectifier causes critical damage on the alternator, luck of charging power on both current and voltage, so weak wattage obliged me the periodical recharging manner.

Today I'm going to take photo, previously mentioned Leitz M-ELMARIT 90mm on MAMIYA 645 body and PENTAX 67 also, they must look so interesting for some enthusiasts.

Half dead




All the muscled in my body are ruined by desperate effort on B-Vectra today of all day long. The tasks to renewal the alternator and starter motor were carried out safely with all of my energy, so I'm completely exhausted.
Previous modifications with rubber seat insertion on stabilizer bush and steering lack mount adapter are applied on star marked points.
The wiring connections on +B and solenoid coil signal must be performed before motor mounting.
Shinny new BOSCH 120A alternator is fixed safely, but some deeper considerations and several trial fittings were required to retighten blacket holding bolts beneath the lower alternator bolt.

How to continue ?

Thanks to some assistance I've made remarkable progress in automobile maintenance recently.The great help exists in Yokohama, he shows servicing technologies on B-Vectra in his opened WEB site. New affair occured, he is attacked by some professional serviceman with warning that the danger to tell to ordinal persons how to repair so precisely. Though any responsibilities owe to the practitioner promptly, some legal issues are reported in case of critical accident if it might be performed by amateurs or laymen . We are finding the way and the idea to continue his precious WEB site safely.

Dangerous tasks on autos

Dangers involving in servicing automobiles exist clearly, even professionals go away because of unexpected accidents while working on own business. So professionals in the specific field never give critical informations to the amateurs and to laymen, avoiding own responsibilities in case of accident.
On the other hand, the information in often helpful for the layman being eager for it because of being stranded by some problems on the way.
Though the word, "Self-responsibility" is noted, actually some leagal issues are induced in case of critical accidents everywhere.
How shall we find out the good way to solve this problem ?

Admire Opel

Thanks to desperate effort yesterday, hard tasks were carried out on XH200 Opel Vectra, taking down an alternator and a starter motor, enduring so boring tasks. Comparing with the same tasks on Japanese vehicle, 4 to 5 times efforts are required, how come ? For example, the mounting bolts on starter motor are different size, upper 19mm and lower 18mm ?
By servicing on Vectra, I have been gotten accustomed to her quire and strange charactors.
Comming two holidays would be spent on servicing for Opel, strut shock absorber replacements and alta. and starter reconstructions.

I saw a Mercedes running with twisting right side, probablly thrust angle might be minus, though new model E-350 as it was the driver was adjusting his steering to left side periodically, so the automobile went snake through, this phenomena was not percieved by him because the reactive adjustment were performed without consciousness. European high class new model with high price tag goes with strange actions ?
This affair last evening made me consider deeply, Mercedes factory must have done safety check according to European Traffic Safety Standards, there appear some vehicle out of standard on wheel alignment, especially thrust angle within +-10minutes(angle value), more adjusting takes time and money, then let them(non European standard) export to Japan market, because Japnese vehicle inspection system does not have the important standard on thrust angle !
How about this story ? Unlikely or likely?
Also I don't deny that I felt some superiority complex at that time following oblique dog running Mercedes though I was in NCP10 TOYOTA Vitz. Telling the truth I said to myself, "I don't want to drive that expensive imported German automobile how much money I may be paid." Yes, my Vitz is precisely adjusted on the constructive geometries and on the wheel alignments.

Home Made Cake



She is an applicant for Home Made Cake School in Kyoto, with special relations with the teacher as a graduate of same class in high school. Photo shows today's cooking, transparent blue jelly looks pretty as well as good to eat.
By the way, an effort to keep a woman in satisfied condition is above words as everybody knows, experiencing an unexplainable affair 25 years ago. I'll do that in relatively near future.

Heavy tasks






The heavy task, replacement of two parts on XH200 Opel Vectra will be performed today, energy consuming and heavy tasks. New parts are already prepared, BOSCH genuine alternator and rebuild starter motor. Electric fuel pump had been replaced into new part after 150,000 km use previously, so 2/3 of three sacred treasures are replacing today.
Also the vacuum actuator controlling flaps inside of intake manifold, that's controlled by ECU according to motor's RPM, the length of air funnels are adjusted that's like dreamy racing cars. I admire the brave to have introduced such a complicated technology to ordinal productions by Adam Opel GmBH. Complicated constructive mechanisms sometimes cause troubles.

All the off-time and private money are consumed by 5 automobiles, for their fuel and replacement parts.
Then what am I ? No way to deny from professional's points of view to be a guy in condition that shameless fool out of pot living in carefree circumstances with not reading the atmosphere around without knowledge, experiences, technologies and backgrounds.
But I find out some fun to recognize myself to be progressed step by step, of course taking best cares for safety.

It took me all day long to remove the alternator and the starter motor from XH200 Vectra to day. On the way I was at loss because the lower holding bolt did not come out until loosen the two bracket bolts.
Stepping wear was observed on the slip ring especially inner side, having something to do with a ruined diode in the rectifier.
Unburdened alternator and starter motor with 150,000km using showed, replacement parts behind.

Vulnerability

Some vulnerability exists to do anything if he or she is not a professional or layman(laywoman) in the specific field.
My son graduated this year easily change important parts of his automobile without deeper considerations, destroying precisely fixed wheel alignments performed by me, not once but several times. He does well but I have not a little suspicion on his works because of less experiences and lack of considerations.
There exists vulnerability because of young age. So, I take care of him from a distance not to hurt his intensions to do something, nourishing his wills and hopes.
Only his manual training by himself can make him progressed, this is my idea.
I'm always prepared to assist him utmost whenever he wants.

On using any machinery especially vehicles should no have a piece of fear factor. The driving pleasure is reduced so much if the vehicle has a disadvantage. So I wanna keep it in vest condition ultimately. Almost of defect are caused by mechanical factors except those of sensors, clunk angel, cam angle, water temperature, oxygen, knocking, air flow and air temperature.
I make it a rule to desert my car when motor or trans-axle goes away.

Statistic & Dynamic balance

Every automobile is so designed as to establishe balance in all directions, compliances and motor performances, statistically and dynamically. So the factory engineers make desperate effort to design new models to obtain good balance.
In case of modification by the users may be applied with different parts in different way, the critical balance would be lost with no doubt. Because the efforts by the engineers would be destroied.
This is why the periodical replacement parts must be replaced following the parts numbers fixed by the company exactly.
Some times very trifle rubber bushes with different hardness would cause completely different steering reactions.
On the art assessment by the factory engineers should be put an emphasis.
To know this truth and fact some interval of studying on this point was necessary, around 50 years, too long and too late, no ?

Future tasks

Computer crushed this morning, XP drill 32 is lost happening unexpectedly. Problems happen one after another in my circumstances. Once decided to solve any problems around me by myself, I must do those, but most of my free time has been occupied by solving them with DIY methods, time passes so quickly if I'm busy doing. Then is there another way to live except doing like this for me ? The answer is negative.
On comming Thursday I'll check wheel alignment on EP82 TOYOTA Starlet after previous setback adjustment and replace magnetic switch module on starter motor.
And on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, the heavy tasks on XH200 Opel Vectra would be performed, replacement of the starter motor and the alternator and of foure shock absorbers, very sweaty and tiresome works in these climate on earth.
In addition all the works must be performed at the same quality as professional's and sometime exceed them.
I'll do that !

Preparations ready



Newly obtained shock driver enabled me to go forward on BOSCH starter motor servicing. The reason why the special tool was required is some grew preventing loosening of three screws connecting the case and the magnetic switch module, shown relatively upper part of screws in red colored material. No disassembling desigh of the module causes some anxiety on the wear of the terminals that is impossible to check them before breaking the module.
So I made up my mind to replace the module into new one, because the motor brushes were checked already.
Now next step is waiting for me today, after the preparation of starter motor, alternator replacement.
Also special construction of intake manifold that is automatic intake surge tank balk adjusting system must be checked at the same time especially on vacum actuator's movement on diaphragm. Photos would come up later.

Cienta has critical problem on the motor 1NZ-FE, compression rings on pistons, oil consumption is unusually increased, because of ring stick. The mechanical serviceman says only for Cienta in specific production interval, no other 1NZ-FE mounted model has such kind of problems just the exception, probablly some micro revel manufacturing error must be involved.
The fact came across yesterday made me anxious because my NCP10 TOYOTA Vitz has a similar motor 2NZ-FE with the difference of 200cc less.
Consequently I happened to see actually the VVTi system, oil pressure controled continuous intake valve timing construction on the sophisticated engine head inside, in addition timing chain that's newly introduced system instead of cogged belt timing control, looked not so reliable like that of bicycle for kids.

Finally the magnetic switch module was removed and replaced into new part. The rate of switch terminal wear is discernable by pushing down the connective bracket with some concentration, the less amount of downing travel means that of wear. The distance was reduced into a half of new one, so decided I replacement parts. The red colored parts are some grue for loosening prevention with some acrylic resin, epoxy resin was applied for reassembling this time.
Fuel pump, Alternator and Starter motor are the fundamental parts for vehicles, so to speak "Three sacred treasures of the neck.".
After exchanging those parts my Vectra would obtain the original performances like new car including replacement of shock absorbers and relative rubber parts, then another 150,000km run would waiting with me.

Contributions to Opel Vectra


Lack of special tool, shock driver makes me stop working on starter motor servicing. Three plus screws are so tightened as not to loosen ordinal #3 screw driver, they are connecting case and magnetic switch module. Though the tool was bought tens years ago, disappeared !, how come ? Probablly my son had brought out somewhere and lost.
This afternoon I would come to some dealer to obtain the SST, and to TOYOTA dealer for recharging cooler gas 134a. Replacement of magnetic module would be performed for completion after those.
Dash board full disassembling task is waiting for me to clean up heater core and evaporator unit.
Contributions to XH200 Opel Vectra are lasting so long continuously with no limitation.

Leitz Elmarit F-2,8


Sophisticated digital compact camera Lumix DMC FX-60 came to me by chance. Vario-Elmarit is lettered on frontal body !
Yes the trade mark Elmarit is the Leitz F-2,8 lens's one, making me remind of so dear name.
Even now M-Elmarit 90/2,8 is the most favorite one mounted on MAMIYA 645 analogue body with special adaptor(DIY) and helicoid system.
I just remembered that Panasonic company has a special technology in aspherical plastic lens productions suspended by world wide patented one, injection molding of engineering clear plastic material including coating methods. So the digital camera with smaller zooming construction, has much advantages on the technology, yes, Panasonic and Leitz tie-up has deeper meanings.
Anyway this Lumix would be so active from now, because my PC has a good Photoshop application program.

Parts prepared




All the repair parts are prepared for XH200 Opel Vectra.
Shock absorbers are Monroe Reflex and rubber bushes etc. 65,000 yen in total.
BOSH new alternator costed 35,000 yen, not rebuild one but completely new.
Old part starter motor was disassembled finding out that brushes is no wear like new and magnetic switch module must be alive and continue so well, ordered new replacement parts are not necessary.
But stuffy and hottest climate like these days makes me hesitate to go into the hell like hard jobs.
Let's go slowly not to get tired and to be exhausted.
