Wheel alignment SXE10



Potential wondering bad habit in SXE10 TOYOTA Altezza obliged me to loosen the frontal left side lower arm adjusting bolt lock nut at last today. The phenomena occurs every signal stop & go, it was not endurable for me if F/R layout might have such kind of tendency. Actual measurement of wheel alignment for 4 wheels revealed that too much frontal left side negative camber inclination, difference of angle value was 6 minutes. All the datum are the result of 3 values standard after 5 time scaling with eliminating highest and lowest datum. Because of Steering Axis Inclination(SAI) and caster angle, toe angle value changes according to camber adjusting displacement, so the camber value on frontal axle construction have to be adjusted together with toe-in direction at the same time. This is why frontal camber is difficult to be adjusted at the same value of that of opposite side. As the precisely adjusted frontal camber value at the same value is the key to success of fine wheel alignment finally. The outer round surface in the wheel center is the only measurement reference points to be relied for the following measurements and adjustment of rear wheels. The steering reaction became lighter and obedient after the frontal camber and toe wheel inclination adjustment, but some sticky phenomena in centric steering position disappeared meaning an appearance of thrust angle, judging from the new habit the direction should be minus and the angle value should be around 5 minutes. The stiffness in centric steering position would be re-acquired again after Altezza would be corrected into zero degree thrust angle re-establishment. This indispensable correcting adjustment would be performed on the next opportunity.
