3D pann head repaired

Though I bid and got a SLIK 3D panning head was obtained the other day with some disappointment. Both tilting and rotating movement were so unnatural with stepping juddering. So, it was thrown away for the time being. While I had free and boring, I made up my mind to repair and maintain it with full overhauling. Careful grinding and removing of the pressed area and finishing with oil stone brought remarkable improvement in the actual use, smooth and no step movement at all. A big event in our neighborhood started

A big event started this morning in our neighborhood as mentioned yesterday, a few engineering member of the group have dug on the road and pointed out the the critical portion immediately, the fountain location, it's a professional's work at all. Prevention of Camera shake

In front of the actual scenery, I had discomfortability in controlling shutter with smartphone, it destroys my shooting rhythm not a little. I have been fond of self timer or mechanically wired remote shutter for long period time, it's a memory of a medium format siversalt film camera.

I knew that for the first time that A-9 has a capability to expand the interval of self timer more than 2 seconds to 5 sec. Repeating test shoots, 5 seconds self timer is a great assistance to be shot without smartphone. This setting is useful in case that some vulnerable tripod had been brought with me. The more vulnerable the tripod is, the more oscilｌation remains for long period.

Reduction of my body power prevents me from carrying heavy tripod around with more than 3.5kg, though I could have enough confidence for camera shake fear. 2.5kg weight let me have some hope to bring it out with me, anyway, such a trifle functional additive, but great for me, will open my heart widely for shooting landscape photos.

My imagination was to the point

Engineering inspectors came this morning following to my information to them before long. My imagination was to the point and the repairing procedure peeling the road surface would be done tomorrow and water supply would be stopped for few hours, so informed by them.

As for my regret, Radio control model airplane Yoshioka Pegasus Acro that arrived at hand yesterday had a critical problem. 4 pieces of main wing lib with 2mm thickness were lost, the fact shows that they must be fabricated by myself as a matter of fact. Balsa cutting procedure with ultimate precision must be done otherwise my passion to proceed into production would be reduced gradually.

Design paper included in the box reminds me of bitter memory happened 4 years ago, all of the airplane were lost thoroughly including motor, servos and Rx. This kind of bad history cannot be eliminated until some revenge action would be performed. As I have materials to make it fly in the sky, I'll try to prepare before coming Spring visits us.

The motor would be OS 46 LA with YS fuel pressure regulator and OS 21 Car big throat with 8mm diameter, the 1st crankcase pressure is withdrawn at messensure port position of the case just picking up only on the highest pressure crank timing same as YS 45 FR. No coughing or sluggish catch from idle speed to moderate rotation that is often observed in operation on only the principle of spraying. Also, idle speed motor stop while spinning pattern maneuver never happens. The confidence of no motor stopping is above all. Acting thinking it may stop is not fun.

Anyway, I have prepared to do something is better than nothing to do. My hobby, photo shooting came to a corner to change directions, because I feel I did enough. 

"Entering the Cold"

We had the coldest period of time through a year from 20th January to 3ird February calling it "Dai-kan", also it the last of a Solar Terms. As for my surprise, I found out my car covered with needle ice slightly, actually the temperature is below zero degree celsius, this is the first phenomena here in this winter season.

Best care should be taken on the icy road surfaces when I drive on the highway!

I bid some Radio controlled model airplane kit at reasonable price and I got it probably arriving me today. The model left me very bitter memory 4 years ago, it was completely lost because of the frakage of stabilizer at the first flight when I applied down radder from straight down to horizontal pattern of square shape. It is known that the structure of the modified fragile horizontal stabilizer was the problem, application of miniature bearings on 4 portions were not acceptable physically, stupid idea by myself caused the irreversible accident. As it rushed into the deep bush, it could not be found in spite of desperate searches, nothing could be obtained as a matter of fact.

With killing my free time I'll try to construct Yoshioka Pegasus Acro again intending some revenge for eliminating seriously bad memory.

Repaired tripod LPL Tekno Boy 501

Broken tripod was bid by mistake at 1 yen and I got it with some disappointment. But, it did not take time a minute to come to the conclusion that some modification would save a tiny life to put Leica miniature ball head by making up 1/4 thread hall on it. 

It took a few minutes to scrape off the press spot and make a pilot hole, but it did not take any trouble to set up a tap on the aluminum alloy base. It goes without writing that the original broken and engineering plastic pan head was removed thoroughly replacing Leica miniature ball head.

Basically, plastic material deformes and cracks into fracture if continuous pressure is applied, so releasing all the stresses by screw tightening must be released and the stress should be applied only in the sceneries of actual use, this is the key to the long lives of plastic materials.

Now LPL Tekno Boy 501 tripod has no fragile plastic construction anymore instead mainframe work is formed only metallic material, so it will continue as long as my lifespan would last.

An unforgettable memory 27 years ago

21 years ago today, we had a miserable disaster, Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake! I thought it a new movie program in CNN news at the beginning as the affairs from far distance place outside of our country, but gradually I realized it an actual news happening now as a real time report! As I was outside of our country, supposed I ​that there might be some difficulty to land at Kansai International Airport because of any destruction by that and it will be probably Nagoya.

I could arrived at K.I.A. before noon at the same day and by way of trains to Umeda, but all the traffics were inhibited there and all the road were so crowded filled with vehicles. It was late at night when I arrived at my home passing through clogged traffics in my car, of course there was no electric power supply at all and the roads were dark like deep in the mountain .It was so lucky that we had no victim, injured in my family and no destruction of my house though a few dishes and equipments were destroyed. Very inconvenient lifestyle was obliged, no electric power supply, no water and no gas, the roads was inhibited everywhere because of cracks. A few months were required to recover our infrastructures accompanying with tremendous inconveniences.

As for my surprise, a stable and usual lives were performed around Osaka as if nothing special happened but there were many refuge who lost everything and a completely different world spread across the Muko River.

Natural disaster had changed our values of lives significantly. 

I feel very slight cold disease this morning feeling some throat and nasal inflammation that might have been brought by my son who treats many patients every day, but I  have no idea to have an old type of  Vaccination Therapy at all.

Velbon SX-501B restore

 Relatively long period of time used for, Velbon SX-501B had some inconvenience in locking lever action, dul and loose stopping. Careful investigation proved the malfunction was caused by the compression deformation in actually using position. It is difficult to reform the distorted portions, so increasing lever action pressure is recommended.

Though long used and worked well equipment should be deserted and thrown away, very trifle maintenance way will recover this situation. Additional insertion of 0.3mm Aluminum adjusting sim took effect, the material was from Canned Beer. Only insertion of Locking resistor when stored was increased a bit, but acceptable change at all.

This Velbon tripod will continue more 10 years in future.

Marbelous tripod, Record-SV-Stativ 003459

Early this morning it was so cold with the temperature at below zero degree celsius, but after the Sun rising it became warmer as usual. We must take best care of ourselves not to catch cold.

The vibration convergence test within 2 seconds was conducted by mounting Tokina 400mm on a Linhof 003459 tripod via a Slick Plate, because the timer set by operating the shutter button is activated in 2 seconds. In case of longer interval is required for convergence settlement I have to use the remote cannabis function of Image Edge application program.

I found that the toughness was maintained even with the delicate 3-way pan head and the leg structure with a U-shaped cross section, and that it could withstand actual battle use, so this Linhof tripod would be a member of the equipment prepared for shooting with heavier telephoto lenses. 

It is completely different from the rugged shape made in Japan with the highest priority on functions, and although it will withstand abuse enough, the grace like a weak woman is attractive in the work process of difficult shooting. If I bring this with me, I will surely get a wonderful peace of mind that is different from usual. From now on, I will customize the shoulder belt.

Do I change my life style?

As for my surprise, one of the staff resigned from our clinic on the day of end of last year. Though I guessed the date would be this March because of year change. The residual worker became a busy person considerably as a matter of fact. Suppose this condition might last as a normal one, his health condition would be destroyed sooner or later without doubt because of hard work. 

How shall I measure this inconvenience? Leave it entirely as it will be or I would be of help to him for the time being until alternative worker appears? My life style finally obtained after 45 years of contribution for the financial support of my family would be obliged to change into some different way. 1/4 screw hole

Velbon Quick shoe base plate was modified to accept 1/4 inch screw from the bottom side for actual convenience. I came across the scenery to be forced to separate Velbon QB-62 with camera body to be used on an ordinary 1/4 inch bolt panhead. Especially, shooting in the darkness had I some troublesome in releasing QB-62 from camera body and in tightening the same diameter 1/4 bolt into camera body again.

Suppose that it might be so convenient if the thumb bolt had 1/4 inch threaded hole on the bottom side. I could eliminate a handling step to remove base plate from the camera bottom. This is why I modified QB-62 to be used on an ordinary 1/4 inch bolt panhead. Thanks to this manufacturing a threading a hole, shooting procedure far smooth especially in that of darkness.

Trifle itself is a trifle but piled trifles are not so already but great.

Awfully cold today!
