Legal inspection passed!

Legal inspection on SXE10 TOYOTA Altezza safely passed this morning without any delay. Also VW Polo brought by my friend passed with some minor troubles. Polo has some problem on beam direction, too low, caused by head light module defect by plastic flame destruction due to to weak design under the condition of engine room heating and continuous spring pulling force. Later model has improved parts on the portion.

As an urgent temporally treatment, rain guard rubber cap behind was inserted under the IODE lamp terminals intending rear side up to rise up the direction, finally two layer of rubber insertion could attain the required angular direction. The reason why such a stupid manner were applied on VW was defected direction adjusting screw. According to the information from the Web site, destruction on this parts is the most likely as an usual manner.

As for my Altezza, I had some difficulty on speedometer calibration test at 40kmm. Though the traction control switch was off, it was relatively difficult to keep and stay at 40km constantly, because the gear change happened unexpectedly and the desired speed was drifted, so the gear position must be held at 3rd position by selected lever, now I remember about this problem, I'll try like this two years later for the next Legal Inspection.

Insists?

Toshiba, Mitsubishi and Hitachi are willing to continue the Nuclear Electric Power Plants in Japan Land, the opinions became clear yesterday on the stage of the shareholder's meeting promptly. Still now after the miserable disaster in Eastern Japan Earth Quake there exist the people to continue Nuclear Power Plants? Unnecessary to say that they are all Nuclear Power Plant manufacturers on earth!
Then I wanna ask them very fundamental and stupid question, "How many times must we experience till we realize the awful Radioactive contamination, we have done twice already?".
Before that we must know the necessity to expand the unregulated economic activity in our liberal society?
Unnecessary economic advancing and improvements are not always necessary, no?
Human being should have any mechanical device like Nuclear Power Plant that is not safely controllable in case of disaster occurred a few months ago?
The people described at first must stated based on only their interests?
Do we repeat exactly the same errors so many times like a experimental rats in some laboratory?
To control the Egoism living in human mind may be much difficult to do the Nuclear Power?
As Hirohito said, judging form the Japanese people that are prone to following blindly without deeper considerations had not realize the stupidity until we were completely defeated and again the important lessons would be easily forgotten in short time, half a year this time?

Legal inspection test

My friend noticed me of his coming to Kobe Hyogo Land Transport office tomorrow for the same purpose as mine, for legal vehicle inspection to continue more 2 years. He would bring VW Poro after professional's maintenance servicing. I'll bring SXE10 TOYOTA Altezza tomorrow as previously mentioned.

As an experimental trial on VW 1302 Super Beetle, the nipple for originally retarding vacuum line was opened, idling operation continued without any tendency to stop, exhaust gas smell changed into more clean condition decreasing CO percentage.
More precise idling air volume adjustment is necessary on Solex 34PICT3 carburetor.

Drove I B-Vectra Opel this morning after two weeks interval with usual surprise on well balanced setting, the ride, motor response and power, steering reaction and all of NVH. I asked to myself, "Do I continue this Vectra more?"---"Yes, I do.".

I wanna say to NCP10 TOYOTA Vitz, "The fact that she doesn't have apparent disadvantage is the disadvantage!".

Departure

Once I decided, my emotional condition should not be moved and be trembled so much and any disambiguation in future must be eliminated thoroughly in my heart. The attachment to the past affects on my emotional condition where to be settled for the next?
The new voyager has already departed from the old place with no regret and no return back.
Now I must follow through with so painful reluctance, deserting 13,850 clients once visited our laboratory past 23 years interval.

Trifles but important

Trial setting of shift lever extension proved the most adequate length would be 55-60mm in all.
The diameter is 12mm but the pitch is relatively rare recently, 1,5mm.
The special parts is obtained already with 70mm extension, requiring some 10mm adjustment?

Hone does not work well even after 3 times terminal adjustment, in spite of simple mechanical constructed buzzer? Try it again!

Judging from the smell of exhaust gas, too rich in idling condition requiring air volume control adjustment, a smaller screw below.

The ill setting of thrust angle, goes right side while braking situation.
Unstable rear axle construction on both side, because of defected trailing arm hinge bushes inner and outer.

Trifle but important adjustment occurs one after another, when will it be to settle in stable condition on VW 1302 Super Beetle?

I just cared on the words in the old movie, "The Apartment". They said," The ride was the worst because of a Volks Wagen."
The American people took Beetles like that in that period of time?
Then what kind of ride did they took the best?
Over complianced ones like a cradle or a hammock?

Legal inspection Altezza

Seven years have passed since my son had been accepted as a student in some medical course, now he is a licensed fresh man.
SX10 TOYOTA Altezza was bought as an anniversary present to my wife for the sake of some accomplishment of our descendant.

As the 7th year is the continuous survey of legal automobile inspection that comes around every 2 years, and the internet reservation has finished and appointment ID had been obtained for coming Thursday #1 round.
Below 20,000km use never causes any defects at all. So, just come to the Land Transport Office Hyogo and pass through the checking line that's all, remember! don't forget to switch off the "Traction Control", otherwise I would be at a loss, because the 40km speed could not be reached because of the computer system to recognize some wheel slip must occurred, so the wheel rotational sensor sent the signal to ECU.
Anyway the control is inconvenient for speedometer calibration check in the inspection line.
Fulfill the application forms obtained when I visited Kobe last time for an another purpose.

High way running



Visited Kishiwada SUBARU yesterday as I did, the person I rely on moved to another place, to Tezukayama branch.
I gave up to see him yesterday, because I had no urgent problem on my SUBARU Legacy BC7 LSi US model.

The main event was at Izumi City Community Center, Japanese dancing stages. Several pictures were taken as usual.

2 hours high way driving in BC7 Legacy was comfortable enough to satisfy my demands on the vehicles.
But she needs brake maintenance, though the calipers were serviced when the parts had been replaced, brake master cylinder cup is not yet! 20 years use needs servicing sooner or later, as the cup kit genuine parts has been obtained already.

Culture & Religion

Today I'm coming to IzumiCultural Community Center for taking stage photos of my intimate friend's stages.
After that I would visit Osaka SUBARU Kishiwada branch to see some factory mechanical engineer with a special experience to have attended in World Rallye Championship as a supporting factory entries.
His advices are based on not a meare production manual but on the actual transactions nourished while the Rallye Tours.
It wil be possible to know the true opinion by the constructor's side on newly produced long stroked boxer engines and newly widened applications of CVT to 2,5L motors.

I saw some Japanese Zen priest from Germany in the TV and he replied interview so
fluently as to understand ordinal people.
He was seeking the true reason to live in this world, why do we continue to live?
His grand father was a priest also in Christianity, but he finally chose Japanese Zen.
He realized that to know the truth to live, just considering is not enough, he found a small guide light after passing through the tunnel with no way to come back however hard the daily duty as a training priest may be, also he said only in an actual physical works some power to change himself.
But after overcoming the problem, the next one appears and stand still as a much more difficult barrier.
He must do that one by one as a priest of the Zen temple.

Strategy in future

Things are moving without stopping all the time.
New laboratory in different place from here in Osaka would be started on the beginning of coming October. All the procedures must be promoted without any omissions prior to the D-Day.
Reliable assistant is obtained and attached his approval already, and the future negotiations would be on Monday in the evening.
Equipment, machinery and devices are all moved to the new place.
Though 20 years used ones, adequate maintenance would recover and continue their original performances.
Now #4 machine is out of order before starting, no oil pressure with pump motor operation, probably the solenoid valve plunger stick?
The technology nourished by restoring old automobile is fully used on this kind of maintenance, tools and special devices are ready.
Electric servicing is good for may favorite as my residence is 20 minutes train ride to the Electric Old Town Nipponbashi OSAKA.
Anyway my laboratory would rise up at New Place in three months.
The time will pass so quickly from now like not an arrow but a supersonic rocket.
I've chose this way because I hated a stable, monotonous and calm residual life, preferring a risky direction.

Drifting emotion

The date to say good-bye to the clients here is coming across to me gradually, I feel some sadness unexpectedly to see them with deeper sympathy.
Once made up my mind to leave here and remake my working place in another place, I must proceed to the direction without any hesitation.
Drifting and changing once decided planning are not allowed on earth.
Over 7500 clients are going to be deserted and to be put in abandoned situation?

Capacitor

As an experimental trial,temporarily wired 0,22 micron farad bi-polar capacitor for audio field coupling one soon lost proper performance and caused misfiring on VW 1302 Super Beetle yesterday.
Finally the Lucas capacitor was applied on BOSCH distributor.
0,22 film construction capacitor applied must be broken?

All the application forms have obtained yesterday, closing the laboratory in Osaka and opening it in Hyogo prefecture.
According to the regulations, manners and habits, I must proceed application steps one by one gradually?

Miscellaneous today

Some chemical odds smell fee I in the air flow from the Southern direction, because there are many heavy industrial factories along the coast of Amagasaki bay area. Probably human health irritating micron grain poisoning materials must be included in the breezing air?
Industrial place Amagasaki is not the place to lead healthy lives for geriatrics.

I woke up this morning with some inspirations on the capacitor set on the distributor equipped in VW 1302 Super Beetle, stopped on the way to my working place in the day before yesterday morning.

Generally the capacitor is used with physical property as mono polar electrolytic capacitor, I would apply some film constructive bi-polar capacitor, because the duty of this parts is the release of fetal in the ignition coil before sparkling.

Though the property is bi-polar and the both of polarities are the same, no paying attention is necessary for wiring? Deeper consideration led me the conclusion that the idea of upper description isn't correct, the starting point of rolling construction of film capacitor is the entrance of the signal and the finishing of rolling terminal is the signal exit.

This principle firmly exists in especially in the audio devices field to keep the sound clear and stable, the very point is signal coupling ones. With all this important information, the film capacitor 0,22 micro farad is setting as an experimental trial today. Unexpected phenomena may happen in ignition sparkling, reporting later:

Today relatively busy, taking to some tourer to Amagasaki Hanshin Railway Station in this early morning, asking some additional copy of the building I'm going to engage and sending them to constructive engineer in Kyoto with the way of Expack envelope, coming to the Osaka Association Office in Unagidani for working place closing official form also Amagasaki branch again for application form in accordance with the change of representatives in the new laboratory.

The schedule today has fully digested and returned I home exhausted before long.
The defected parts, distributor capacitor was replaced into new one, consequently now the new distributor with vacuum diaphragm is equipped in VW 1302 Super Beetle.

I knew the capacitor plays an important action to demagnetization on the first stage of ignition coil. But for this action, the motor doesn't work in accordance with misfiring phenomena.

The air conditioning system had been unburdened already, so I had to drive in shiny sun light with triangular window fully turned for fresh air flow into the cabin.
This is why I'm thoroughly exhausted and dried completely.

The designer for new working lab would be selected by a relative professional next week. And the later process would proceed at an accelerated pace.
Though the name of the representative for new one was intended to set up my son to eliminate the complexity on the future shift of generation, utilizing the guarantee for grant eviction for my son's lab is regarded as some deposit?

Coil

The impression of Brazilian ignition coil replaced today is very similar to that of Lucas golden coil, thin torque feel and less power compared with original shorter BOSH coil. I'm not sure what causes this strange phenomena?

Ignition coil is 40 years old, though almost of the system had been replaced, the distributor and the high tension cords had been done.
Miserable my Beetle is now left on the way, calling police to tell the mechanical disorder.
Too much humidity must have caused current leak in the distributor cap.
Lasting rain fall causes many troubles on old and ancient historic automobile?

Utilizing lunch time, I came to the place that VW Beetle had been left because of disorder.
Trial replacements of ignition parts proved that the criminal of this affair was distributor cap, especially the central carbon terminal.
Replacement of distributor assembly could recover the motor running.
Deeper inspection must be necessary to know the error of new VW genuine replacement parts?

New lounching

Not a few works are piling in front of me, relocating the working place to another prefecture.
Many application forms were fulfilled with my son yesterday.
Any way, the matter started to move now.
Professional builder is ready, rental contract with the building owner is undergoing.
New place would be opened in the beginning of September or October at the latest.
I prefer being a frontier to be in the stable stagnant.

Change of airs

It took almost 3 hours to finish application forms with hand writing by my son, fulfilling the documents for joining the Association in our field.
According to the change of working places, thing many would be replaced into different ones.
Today I received his consent on the affair this time moving my laboratory to another place, that would be his working place also in very near future.

He must have some distinction clearly on his own realistic futures today.
Soon he will stand on the ground as an independent and reliable man in very near future, so I hope.

Restored VW 1302 Super Beetle

The length of the shift lever extension parts is almost decided and fixed. This is determined at the end of the actual trial and error by myself, because a small difference of the extension length affected on the shift feel so much.
Consequently the length was not so easy to be fixed after knowing the most adequate three dimensional shift knob position adapting to human sensory.

Precise point gap adjustment must be performed relatively frequently to drive with comfortable VW AD motor condition. As the point gap adjuster screw is tightened so firmly not as to be loose, the cause of this phenomena must be the wear of point arm lifter made of plastic material?

Ugly driver's torn seat back in Super Beetle was covered with newly arrived covering parts from Tokyo. The supply of this kind of after parts is established because of VW Beetle in spite of the old production, 40 years ago.

New replacement parts, ignition coil with 3 ohm first stage resister arrived also.

The original distributor has been out of order because of defected diaphragm in the vacuum advancing actuator, now the replacement of the actuator could regain the original performance.
Though the original actuator had two ways actions, retarding while idling and advancing as ordinal actuator, retarding action was eliminated this time. This complicated control system invites some trouble on throttle action, stumbling and hesitation.

009 distributor without vacuum advancing mechanism has some tendency to perform strange throttle reaction like some descriptions above.

Now the frustration and the failure on my Super Beetle have been almost resolved recently after my desperate effort on the restoring for over half a year.

New laboratory

New working laboratory would be resigned to my son in future, so his consent must be obtained on the affair.
Today the negotiation would be performed after checking the place and the location by himself.

Transition

Everything around myself starts to move, revolving and resetting, I feel some strong energy is affecting on my future.
Several circumstantial change will occur in 2 to 3 months especially on my working place.
Very selfish persons would try to attack me to gain self advantages and own conveniences, though I'm not god at such kind of negotiations with the attackers basically.
I just hope the quick settlement on new place, if it difficult to overcome all the sort of cumbersome procedures, how often must I come to Kobe and Amagasaki from now?

Emotional condition

I visited Chuo-ku Kobe in Hyogo prefecture for obtaining application form for my son. All the people there were so kind and warm hearted to a stranger like me from Osaka. And I'm surprised that not a single worker inside forgot morning greeting, unlikely in that of Osaka.
In the course of the story I gave up driving to Nunobiki-Fall on the way back in VW Super Beetle and ---.
Also I dropped in Amagasaki branch of the Association, the workers there were also in the same reactions receiving me warmly so much like long lasting old friend. The emotional conditions of the people may differ promptly Hyogo from Osaka?

Hard to let some go!

I drove two automobiles this morning, NCP10 TOYOTA Vitz and XH200 OPEL B-Vectra, both of them were best balanced with no problem.
Of course they both are in well setting on wheel alignments and constructive geometry corrections. Another ones are BC7 SUBARU Legacy LSi 4WD US model and VW 1302 Super Beetle.
All of automobile I'm keeping have the original conditions as designed and works well perfectly. They all have enough potential to play as an indispensable partner of my future life.

A few months later some circumstantial revolution would occur in my human relations because of change of the places for my business.

Not a few client may have felt some atmospheric changes around myself, because they intentionally say, "Don't go away far from here, please!".

Adequate length


Several trial fittings on the extensive length at the tip of shift lever of VW 1302 Super Beetle revealed that there exist the most adequate and the most comfortable shift knob three dimensional position.
Too heavy shift lever construction spoils the feel, experienced when the Hurst Shifter was invited.
Before deciding the final setting of the length, I would try another ways for the time being.

Extension

Only 40mm extension on the tip of shift lever causes considerable difference of shift feel, the phenomena on the shift corn and synchronizer. So, the balance of compliance is required here too.
The ordinal passenger cars could be regarded as a mass of balance.
The pitch of shift lever for knob is very rare,1,50mm, not 1,75 nor 1,25.
Now pitch 1,75mm is used temporally, leading to the fact that tightening is difficult because of the small difference between them.
Today some alternative bolt 12mm with 1,50mm pitch are obtained for the purpose.
Trial fitting would be continued on the length of shift lever extension.

Culture exchanging meeting

Eastern Osaka Culture Exchanging meeting were held at Public Center in front of Kintetsu Eiwa Station the day before yesterday and yesterday.
My friend also gave some stage presentation as a combination Classic Japanese dance and Japanese old style Poetics.
My friend did it well except a moment to loose balance once, as I knew his body condition had not been in the best condition.
Continuing this kind of private hobby is great after retiring his main business.
For the next time, the same kind of meeting would be held on 26th Sunday in the end of this month, the place is Izumi Community Center, I would attend again and take some photos in the best moment.

Sunday but busy




The driver's seat was torn because of the hardening of epidermis influenced by 40 years change of over time, this is the inconvenience on VW 1302 Super Beetle .
Replacement parts are already prepared from Beetle House in Toyama.
The seat rail is opened in frontal portion, so removing seat is relatively easy from the cabin.
Today I'm occupied by miscellaneous.
I must have consultation in Kyoto fortune teller on replacing my own working place.

Fuel gauge keeps a bad amount in the cluster meter, showing whimsical.
I fulfilled the 40 L fuel tank in VW 1302 Super Beetle this morning, the stylus shows as a half amount of fuel and the position of stylus tip drifts between the level of empty to a half.
Anyway the defected parts must be identified, a signal sender unit, voltage generator, ill meter level adjustment or short or open circuit in the cluster meter? Highest possibility is owned by the mechanical voltage regulator that is just behind the center meter unit.
Probably this kind of error should have been overcome by the predecessors, air cooled VW owners.

Relatively long distance I went today, Osaka to Kyoto and returned to Eastern Osaka by way of Route 1, about 300km.
Thanks to the replacement of clutch operating lever into longer one, I do not have any problem on my left knee and leg.

As a symbol of rainy season, I came across with Hydrangea macrophylla in full bloom around Kintetsu Eiwa station. Also the imported one, probably first time for me, checking later.

3 terminal regulator


Finding out some semiconductor shown in the photo, 0,5A 5V 3 terminal regulator in my junk box. I'm utilizing this regulator for the power supply on the Copen antenna booster, because it requires additional 5V supply to be activated as a booster.
The booster is set in VW 1302 Super Beetle for the recent FM and AM solid state radio in stead of original old style manually extended antenna and only AM push button preset National radio.
Another opinion actually occurs not to touch original condition on dash panel if the radio receiver is not so important and I do not have any inconvenience, because I'm watching one segment TV instead equipped in the Yupitel Radar Navigator.
Before that I should proceed to the replacement of regulator on the speedometer to control the fuel gauge accurately.
The original mechanical regulator equipped now control the fuel gauge stylus till a half position if the fuel tank was fulfilled.
The possibility that the signal sender unit may be wrong is not denied.
Careful checking must be necessary.

Body painting

I have some planning to paint by myself on VW 1302 Super Beetle in the color code of #21 L54 Marina Blau.
Consideration in the Web site on this title shows various and conflicting information, some efforts, brave and the power of decision are required to get into the automobile painting field.
As the air compressor is already prepared for splay gun play, no failure barrier is found in front of me except the well understanding of the physical property and the way to use over them, monomer and polymer mixing activating type urethan painting materials including putty and surfacer.
Gradually I would try to understand and to get accustomed to the field, because I wanted since long time ago.

Trailing arm design



Finding out the space about 8mm thickness on lower arm inner bush bracket outside, I remembered easily movable rear bush on NCP10 TOYOTA Vitz.
This space were not produced by the shrinkage of bushing rubber material caused by aging but the originally intentional axle design, inviting progressive displacement of rear lower arm position.
This kind of method is utilized for the compliance, provocative toe correction while the lateral force was input during turning phase.

As TRD(TOYOTA RACING DIVISION) sells special parts to prevent lateral displacement of the lower arm, same kind of experimental trial may improve dull steering action of VW 1302 Super Beetle. It goes without writing, the lateral displacement of rear axle spoils astringency of steering action.

The careful checking on rear axle and suspension would be the next task to do on Super Beetle.

Clutch lever replacement

Let's try to know what will happen today, if the longer clutch operating lever was applied on the adequate position instead of normal parts.
Before getting into the interesting experimental trial, deepest consideration must be done especially on the lever angular position, because the connecting position is the one to decide the angular direction while the clutch actions, straight movement being changed into the arc action.
A few splines are set inside of the hole to adapt with the release shaft. I know the importance of initial angular setting of the operating lever, the best concentration and checking are required in the situation.
Many difficulties must be come across to me on the way to do that, I must overcome all of them today.

Report and description on this later:




The clutch operating lever being on the extension of the release lever is fixed only by a tiny C ring, but for this small parts, VW 1302 Super Beetle cannot go.

The difference of the clutch pedal pressure is easily imagined from the photo.

The access from the under side of the vehicle must be difficult and requires some professional skills and special tools, as for my working today, thanks to the big hole made by the air conditioner setting engineer 40 years ago, today's task was relatively easily performed.

The fatigue after driving for 3 hours is like nothing on my left leg, pedal touch was remarkably improved by today's efforts.
I feel some strong passion on air cooled Beetle deeper than before, how come?

Clutch operating lever

Replacement genuine parts, long lever operating clutch linkage arrived this morning from Tokyo FLAT4.
Probably clutch wire extension must be necessary, so expected before the replacement.
Though the pedal pressure would be reduced and clutch meeting would be easier, the travel angular distance would be increased instead.
The task planning for tomorrow would be the most interesting one, I'm looking forward to do that! How many times did I remove left rear wheel before?

Axial force


The replacement parts, hub outer bearing arrived and the construction of the parallel roller bearing proved the playing of just only for radial force without any axial force retentions, laterally free.
Then the lateral force from the wheel,axial force is suspended only by the inner hub bearing of which construction is deep groove ball bearing, not thrust bearing.
Application of the deep groove ball bearing on both side, inner and outer may be a choice?
I would ask on this idea to a R & D professional.

Longer lever


I'm going to replace normal clutch lever into genuine but longer one intending the reduction of clutch pedal pressure and the improvement of clutch meeting accuracy by prolonging diaphragm spring hopping period.

For example, the diameter of steering wheel has the same kind of physical property, the longer diameter provides more accurate steering control instead of larger angular movement that's inconvenient in case of requiring quick action. On the other hand smaller steering circle would perform quicker action but the control would be rougher comparably.

Exactly the same is said on the linkage of clutch action, with all longer clutch lever would change the lever ratio between the clutch pedal angular movement and release arm lever action.
Then what will happen after the parts replacement?
The meeting travel length would increased leading to much easier meeting and the most important and main purpose, the pedal pressure would remarkably reduced.
This is the very thing that I and my left leg are eager for.

Decisive moment

The decisive moment picture of my VW 1302 Super Beetle in reflection on New Beetle by chance this morning.
Though both of them are in similar design, actually they are completely different ones, former is air cooled, rear engine and rear drive, on the other hand new one is in Golf platform that's few generations ago, of course front engine and front drive power train.
I would not dare describe about the reputations of New Beetle here.
Which do I prefer to go with?

Parallel torsion bar suspension


Haynes frontal suspension illustration on VW T34 Karmann has influenced me of giving up away a 100-year love to her.
Parallel torsion bars suspension had been experienced 40 years ago with 1200 STD Beetle already and now much more sophisticated model 1302 Super Beetle is the better half now for me.
I've no intention to go back down to lower constructive technology, I have some difficulty to insist on her, T34 Karmann.
My love to her is over this evening.

Opened circuitry of reverse gear tail lamps must be connected today, because feel I some inconvenience parking at night everyday.
This is caused by the repositioning of ignition coil and the wiring was connected on plus terminal of the coil, now about 50cm length must be compensated?
New wire from fuse case to coil that positioned on the left side would be prepared.

The price down, from 1250,000yen to 700,000yen of Karmann T34 is interesting for me now, negotiation with some VW shop was done yesterday. My price is 500,000 yen. How it would become of?

Disassembling carb.





Careful inspection proved that there are some critical deformation on automatic choke modular coupling connection. Too tight fitting prevent the module rotate so smooth as to adjust adequately.
This deformed distortions on the coupling surface must have brought ill tightening torque, misunderstandings of construction.
Former engineer or just a laymen must have given too strong muscle actions? Though the screw are the same as another metal to metal constructive portions, these 3 screws play a part of not tightening but exerting some adequate pressure on the round spring choke module holder. So the torque here is at the rate not to be loosening by vibrations and by the thermal cycles in the engine room.
Distorted round shape inside here made it difficult for the module to rotate in actual adjusting situation, this inconvenience obliged me to adjust by grinding convex portions manually, as for myself, being relatively good at this kind of fine adjustments.
The errors on this Bocar 34PICT3 carburetor would be corrected with careful checking and adjusting from now.
The fundamental problem on this device reported in every Web site, backlashes in throttle butterfly supporting center shaft formed with the case on both sides is checked.
Some lateral displacement of butterfly was observed when coming to most closest position, being relatively easily solving problem by inserting some adjusting sim there.
The history and biography of this second handed 34PICT3 is not so wrong except the deformations on the choke module coupling.
The vertically lined splay holes 4 in total that is the same as Solex 34PICT3 as widely reported.

The replacement of ignition coil from Lucas Gold 7 ohm into Bosch original one with 3 ohm resister value awakened the performance of VW 1302 Super Beetle this afternoon.
I realized the importance fo coil first stage resister value matching if the different parts may serve admirably.
Nervous and sensitive difficulty in the motor performance disappeared throughly and now feel I very comfortable in 1600cc AD motor's performance.
Next, the spark plugs must be checked to know the combustion stare.

Resister value


Tracing the memory when I replaced genuine ignition coil into Lucas gold coil, I felt some change of condition and the discerned the difference of exhaust note.
The difference of 1st stage resister value 3 ohm to 7 ohm must have brought the sensitive and nervous situations and have made it difficult to continue the ignition timing in stable condition.

Knowing that the ignition coil used in the Transistorized system has lower resister value below 1 ohm, this is not favorable for point signal system distributor and the additional resistor to sum up to 3 ohm must be applied in series connection.

But in case of excessive resistor value, no information was found in the Web site. How about connecting parallel connection of additional resistor to sum up 3 ohm?
In case of new parts, Bosch Blue Coil with 3 ohm resister value from the beginning is favorable, so written in the Web information.

Roughness?


Consideration on the problem that I must adjust point gap so often on VW 1302 Super Beetle led me some possible conclusion, the roughness of the cam surface touching with the cam lifter plastic material. The touching surface here must be shinny finished like a mirror with minimum slipping resister, otherwise cam lifter of contact point mechanism construction easily worn in short period of time?
No lubrication has something to do with the wear if the cam surface is rough like a file.
Polishing with some micro grain polisher would be performed after careful checking, though the distributor set on the AD motor now is new genuine Bosch with vacuum advancing mechanical actuator?

Wire harness

The length of wire harness in the engine room of VW 1302 Super Beetle would be adjusted adequately, the reason was caused by repositioning of ignition coil in original place following the air conditioner compressor removal.
Additionally the wiring of backup lamp is not connected for lack of length.
Today's task would be concentrated in electric wiring in engine room and lead battery portion covering plus terminal.

Over 250km distance on highway was covered today as high speed running test driving in '71 VW 1302 Super Beetle. I came across to the heavy rain fall as to being drenched to the skin if I was out side of automobile, no water invasion into the cabin nor strange function on generator were observed while driving in the shower.

Very comfortable exhaust sound was heard all the time, because contact point was precisely adjusted and also ignition timing.
Point surfaces were not parallel each other, so filing adjustment method there was necessary.
The maintenance inside of distributor is just like a periodical ceremony for fully mechanical controlled machinery.

Wear progresses relatively quickly on the tip of plastic in the contact breaker construction, so I have some idea to replace the plastic material into Polyacetal Resin? Easily deformed by continuous hitting so quickly? Or deformation occurs because of the heat from the crank case?
Changing physical property on the point may be somewhat interesting on earth?

Remembering that the ball joint on tie rod end was not changed and the replacement parts are kept with NIB condition?
Let's do that, replacement of tie rod end parts on both sides.

Wheel alignment would be checked again at that time and following adjustment, rear cambers, total toe and thrust angle would be adjusted so firmly as to go straight if fingers untouched on the steering handle.

Cooler or Steering action?

Single fan belt is used to operate not alternator but generator and cooling fan designed fitting on the extension of anterior potion of generator centric shaft.
So only a belt is to be observed in the air cooled VW Beetle if additional equipment such as an air conditioner is not burdened.

In case of air conditioner fitted air cooled Beetle, tail height down is inevitable because of the over 30 kg weight of the equipment.
Suspension springs and shock absorbers are not designed under such as extra burdening with the air conditioner.
In the engine room on the other hand, the occupation of 3 dimensional spaces by the huge compressor, supporting bracket and connecting hoses,
it's very inconvenient for servicing, especially #3 spark plug tightening is a half impossible task. Anyway all the handling and servicing in engine room are hindered considerably.

The weight of the heat exchanging devices are not ignorable and the important steering reaction is much spoiled on earth.
According to my experience on the point, the attitude changed completely immediately after the removing of the cooling devices removal from my VW 1302 Super Beetle. It was exactly like this, the dull Beetle became to run about freely as same as young Ayu released in clean and clear water.

Reaching the end

The generator in VW 1302 Super Beetle has come to be free from care for rain fall after the setting the brush service hole cover in position. But for this small plastic parts, heavy rain fall attacked on the commutator and triggered charging disorders. Oxide thin film to cut off fluent current flow was relatively easily removed by applying finger pressure on the brush holding spring.
