SLIK Master EV3 restoration

Grinding the bolt head to meet with 10mm spanner made it possible to re-tighten 8x42 bolt with adequate torque on SLIK Master EV3 tripod produced about half a century ago. Too loose slipping resistor on this portion is very inconvenient in actual using scenery. Favorable slipping resistor, not too tight but never close when pulled up at the head center position is the ideal condition for any tripod. Especially, those without connected additional arms inside, this kind of precise adjustment is indispensable.

Judging from another cameraman's Master EV model, most of them lost good adjustment, legs are hanging around and rattling. Professionals never pay attention on such a trifle disorders, but I'm different, I make it a rule to make effort to keep maximum performance for any equipment.

To tell the truth, 8x45 cap screws were prepared for replacement because I have been suffered from inconvenience of tightening at the adequate torque. After purchasing new screw parts, just I tried another way to grind and fit with 10mm spanner and it was successful.I wish I had an opposite idea and action.

I made up my mind to make use of a toy like tripod, "Kenko Skeleton SK-200" with 580 gr weight, 1090mm height and 4 sec that had been thrown away because of easily fragile and distorted plastic pan head.

All the pan head parts were cut and removed leaving the base plate and 1/4 inch x 20mm bolt was implanted at its center.

Remodeling work was successfully performed setting Leitz minimum ball head in position. As the most inconvenient parts was replaced, this toylike tripod would be brought with me for close-up flower shooting, as for shuttering, SONY Image Edge application program will be helpful with remote wireless actions.
