Sparrow came

Early this morning a sparrow came into my garage entrance and had I some talk with it, this kind of interesting affair makes me relieved in natural space, though rainy condition today and tomorrow, so weather forecast tells.
We had a foreign customer, young lady from Puerto Rico and our measure was almost perfect getting her back home with good smile. She reminded me of my good day 40 years ago, I lived some nice days together with her filled with clear happiness. Because, her cheerful personality that's typical Mediterranean made us feel so happy. Actually, she resembled with mine, concerning about appearance, attitude and expression. I just remembered some proverb, " Every dog has his day."

VW 1302 Super Beetle rear axle

In order to prevent loosening of rear axle trailing arm pivot bolt, thee iron nail pins were hit down on the portion on both side promptly. Checking the loosening phenomena because of added rubber sheets in addition to the original viscoelasticity of the bushes, no inconvenient loosening was observed in contrast with the check marks. Though it is said for ordinary automobiles, some dense verification and periodic inspection are required especially for an old car like my 45 years old Super Beetle. No making little of it, cutting corners nand shoddy inspection are allowed.

Reflect on matters

Changing into worse of motor combustion condition occurs gradually in some period of time, it is difficult to realize the cause of inconvenience. This is why I took time to replace the critical part, it is standardized as a periodical replacement part, an ignition contact point module. This important part does not last me so long period of time as to cover 26,000km use. However hard I might try to continue the same old part with flattening the contacting switch surfaces and make the plastic cam follower tip round, important requirement, Duel Angle could not be recovered the original physical performance as a new part.
Several checking were done before coming to the goal, mixture control in Solex 34PICT3 carburetor, ignition timing, vacuum timing advancer, semi-Transistor spark enhancer made by myself, etc. I should remember the fact before those procedures that most of the inconvenience in combustion is caused by the initial spark producer, contact point module. Though my countermeasure for the stupid affair this time took time until I realize the cause of the problem and finish the work, if compared with a professional automobile mechanic work, I might be rewarded because I could come to the final goal at last. In addition to the critical failure the other day, falling down away of right rear axle pivot bolt, as a matter of fact, some apparent difference between a professional and a layman amateur like me exists.

Trouble in VW 11AD motor

It took me all day long to find out the reason of after fire on my Super Beetle. AD motor 1600cc did not gain higher rotation, coughing and hesitating with drawing black smoke, mal-combustion. Flattening the contact point surfaces, point gap 0,35mm, ignition timing 5 degree BTDC under killing vacuum advancer had been done as usual. Though several time point flattening procedures had been tried to cover 26,000km, the life of this part must be ended, too much?
Bad habit tendency was expected when the motor did not start last morning observing metal melting bridge between point surfaces, dodge could not ever at all.  
As the criminal of the problem must be in contact point module construction with worm-eaten state on the contacting surfaces including Duel Angle, tried I this morning to replace the part into new one. Then all the inconvenient condition has thoroughly wiped out, BINGO!

85th ASO Regular Concert

85th Regular Concert by Ashiya Symphony Orchestra was held at Nishinomiya Hyogo Performing Arts Center Grand Hall last Sunday evening, that was a very special one because it was done as the Memorial Concert for Mr. Toru Inaniwa who had gone unexpectedly at 27th April this year. He had been a great concert master for long time for A.S.O., also had he some brilliant biographical history contributing to several Orchestras all through his life. Specially, a supreme violon player Yasuko Ohtani was invited to do the Memorial Concert for Toru and for all the audience there, of course the result was extraordinary sophisticated above all moving us violently from the bottom of our heart. Any way, it was so successfully finished grieving over his absence. The conductor was Kazufumi Yamashita as usual, as a matter of fact the result was an excellent workmanship at all!  

Reflection by Fool

As a matter for regret, must I reflect much more about an affair this time, the event to be ashamed enough, falling away down the right rear trailing arm pivot volt that the most important component of the constructive rear axle element. Why so long time to start this transaction? I did not have enough capability to realize the phenomenon in the early stage, I didn't check the malfunctions such as loosing a capability to turn with adequate speed until I feel deserting my vehicle with unpleasant feeling that cannot be explained. I should know about this when I discerned the strange rubber slipping noise from the portion, it had been pointed out by the VW professional Mr. Oguri who the representative of "Jam Garage" a famous VW Pro. Shop in Kyoto. Now, I have realized about the difference between the Professional in this field and some Amateur Layman like me. Now, I have made up my mind to sharpen and keener my own 5 senses including 6th one.

VW 1302 Super Beetle discharged

Thank to quick transaction by the VW shop "My Bows" in Tokyo, the axle parts ordered arrived at my hand before noon and the muscle work has finished before long this evening. Some application of additional rubber sheets at pivot portions on both side was so effectively done as I imagined and the additional axle alignment measurement and adjustment procedure has also done at the same time. Following driving test run proved that fixed and stable steeling feel, comfortable ride have obtained, no bad imagination such as deserting this Super Beetle has wiped out thoroughly. I determined that I would go with this till I go, it's probably 20 years later from now as my Dad did.

Strange steering reaction obliged me to check and to find out a critical problem on the rear axle of Super Beetle, a pivot bolt for right trailing arm was lost at all! As show in the photo, it was lost thoroughly also two pieces of the pivot washer also, this is why I felt quite a strange drive feeling the other day. As a matter of fact, thrust angle changes irregularly and driving direction was so dull and muddy as to make me feel that I might throw this away. With my desperate effort, found out the missed parts in the Web sight, VW shop My Bows in Tokyo. Unluckily, all of Japanese Island is now under long vacation period as Golden Holidays Week. The parts are already ordered following their form, they will send me them at least 6 days later, so my Super Beetle would be held on the supporting stands for a time being. The round donut shape rubber sheets are prepared for lateral compliance adjustment of the trailing arms on both side, the compliance there would be very important for establishing sure steering reaction and comfortable ride. Pivot bolt  & washers in the photo are removed left side ones.
