When soldiers are sent overseas, not only weapons and equipment must be sent, but also sufficient food. This logistics is difficult even during domestic training periods, but the food must still be transported and delivered to the deployment site. The achievements of logistics units are less talked about than those of combat units, but in fact they are more important in boosting the morale of soldiers. The US military is well aware of this, so much so that they even provide ice cream to soldiers on the front lines. This was already done 80 years ago on the southern front of the US Pacific Strategy. Meanwhile, the Japanese army, who were engaged in guerilla warfare while sipping muddy water, apparently saw the ice cream truck left behind when they counterattacked, deciding it was a poison trap and disposing of it, but the truth is that it was beyond their comprehension.
The Japanese Imperial Army at that time had a tendency to neglect logistics, and food was often procured locally. Not only soldiers, but people as well will die if they don't eat. If you focus on this point, there is no need to destroy the enemy with explosives. There is no doubt that this was the reason why the former Imperial Japanese army was defeated.
The American army, which was heading to enemy territory far away across the sea from their home country, would be attacked from the rear by transport ships following them. If their logistics were cut off, they would have no choice but to turn back.
