The highest floor of Osaka Institute of Technology commands a fine view of Osaka plain. The position is higher up than the famous round viewing wagon. Between the buildings Rokko mountain is observed.
Hankyu Dept. Store was renewed into sophisticated design and also Hanshin Dept. is the same, most clouded intersection at Umeda was as usual.

Improved Hexanon 48/2 & an affair

Though weather forecast tells the temperature outside is 11 degree Celsius, periodical and strong wind makes us much colder especially for peoples without warm love and for in severe circumstantial condition such as in PRC.
Experimental construction of focusing mechanism of Konica Hexanon 48 mm/f2 lens on Sony E-mount was not so convenient in actual use because of irregular mounting utilizing lens module tightening corer and it's narrow screw pitch, it required lens rotating action 3 to 4 times.
Consequently, I determined to trans implant the original helicoid into E-mount flange again, deeper consideration to establish infinity position was necessary and I did it.
4 group 5 element lens design of this Konica Hexanon lens produces fine and brilliant picture on Complementary Metal Oxide Semi-conductor. I didn't come across with good reputation while silver salt film period of time at all, but now I have proved it's performance, capability and potential to be good enough for me, long lasting the policy of Konishi-Roku, dark part resolution is excellent, K-color is not destroyed.

Awful affair happened now, my son left his Sony alpha 7-3 camera body in my room saying "Trade in this for 200,000 yen" and he immediately ran away for work. Miserable geriatric is left alone at home, how come? I have no medicine on his raised head, crazy young man!

Osaka Umeda fountain square area

The fountain square area of Umeda underground has renewed the other day and also 10s of sophisticated food shops and restaurants have now started already. In spite of week day today, the flow of pedestrian did not stop all the time. My favorite coffee shop situated in deserted area recovered visitor foot now, because the access has been interrupted for a long time. In the past, the manager has been lamenting that halves, now she has no problem. Have I realized that the place and people flow are both important for any shop setting.
Geriatric whose sensibility is dull often made realized by the actual phenomena.

Performance of Canon SH 30mm/f2

Transplanted Canon SH 30 mm/f1.7 lens was tested today and took effect as I imagined on SONY Nex 5 APS image sensor. I have no complain it's performance and further session would withdraw more potential than ever circumstance that it was originally fit in "demi EE 17" while silver salt period.
Sharpness, resolution and perspective are available even now.
Smaller, lighter and handy mean that there would be much opportunity to be brought out for every session at all. I have no inferiority complex to use this one among photographers armed with the latest machinery, yes, I will win, over ride on them and defeat them.

Photo Hobby again

I determined to join with Photo Hobby group this year that has long relation with Kansai Leica Club. The name of it is PG'82 named by their founding on the starting date, my favorite old friend is there, this is why I did it.
According to their suggestion, newly started I Face book the day before yesterday because their way of communications is performed there in Japanese language.
Suppose that our life span is extended to 100 years old now, 50 years means that is nothing but a turning point and my age 70 years is just a 20 years old young man, this is why I show self picture when I was 20 years old.
Though most of my main camera equipment are sold away last year, I found out useful ones in junk box and I did modifications on them to utilize on SONY E-mount. My son gave me a permission to use SONY Alpha NEX5 model and Alpha 6400 together with me.
For a long time had I some difficulty to focus on the target because my old lenses do not accept iris opened condition for focusing and light measurement, just only iris closed focusing in dark finding eye sight.
But now, EVF can supply live view in addition to enlarging function, it's like a dream from old style standing point of view. Recent science technology has made great progresses in this field.
This sensational finder constructive design is the vest reason to make me start Photo Hobby again now.
Old but with enough capability and potential equipment here is my weapons to fight with group members.
No zooming or variable focus lens exist because I have never had any experience to come across with them that has superior performance to that of fixed focal lens.

Hexanon 48mm/f2

As mentioned before, Hexanon 48mm/f2 lens played a good part of the session the day before yesterday. It was originally in Konica EE Matic silver salt film period old camera and did I transplantation on SONY E-mount flange leaving iris control mechanism.
As an old story over 50 years ago, Hexanon had some specific character not to destroy dark part with good resolution. It's potential was proved even on Digital Image format as a matter of fact.

Transplantation completed

Thanks to 18mm lens flange back design of SONY E-Mount system, an original helicoid construction could be transplanted in back side of the lens flange. 8.5mm drawing forth makes 1/4.5 close-up shooting. All the shiny surfaces are painted in frosted black color avoiding unnecessary diffuse reflection. Flange lock pin support is formed with room temp. polymerization acrylic resin.
On the other hand, heritage Canon EE demi 17 was destroyed miserably at all. As the way of an apology, most important part of this old camera, Canon SH 30mm/1.7 lens has survived now on digital image format like a phoenix by my desperate effort.
18 mm protrusion of lens element is easily acceptable for my coat pocket like nothing.
75gr lighter, small and short modified Canon old lens would be taken around for every photo session from now.

Commercial strategy

Konica 48mm/f2 lens built in S2 camera has enough capability and potential that is available now in Digital format period of time.
Though the camera had been produced over 50 years ago, lens designing is superb and never second to recent productions. Also camera production makers tell some miss-matching of old designed lens to digital format mainly because of so to speak "Tele-centricity", the light source must be arrived to the image sensor perpendicularly.
Actual experimental trial does not show such kind of inconvenience at all, very very little if it exist. Tele-centricity is a specific professional word that is prevailing only among designers and researches in the scientific field, ordinary users have nothing to do with rumors based on the strategy by constructors.
It true that had I some inconvenience SLR camera in the condition of  darker lens in dark situation,  now we can see through not OVF but EVF as a normal light condition. So, I do not find out any reason to invite an exaggerated fine equipment with big front lens with heavy weight, lighter and smaller the better to handle and treat on sites.
Live view and it's magnification system is one of the best Gospel for me, no other sophisticated functions are not always necessary is required, recent Hi-end camera far passes over the needs of the market.
The public in the commercial distribution economy is easily tossed by the propaganda.
Things that would perish sooner or later ring loudly Dora and Bells.

Too good to be destroyed

I'm surprised to have received Canon demi EE17 from Yahoo Auction today. My intention to get this half size format camera is transplantation of HS 30mm/1.7 lens on SONY E mount, but I'm hesitating to destroy this beautiful legacy cultural good in the world.
No hitting mark, no scratch and no rusting conditioned, this beautiful camera makes me postpone the work for some period of time to consider about that.
Though the lens might have smaller image circle because of half size format, it may be available to be put on the APSC Digital format, so I imagined at the beginning. 18 mm flange back E mount also accept this lens in combination with an original helicoid mechanism?
Because of unbelievable condition of demi EE 17 this time, I will have to seek another possible camera.
Sophisticated profile of demi EE makes me feel that some reason of worth keeping, but remember that I'm not an old camera collector at all, but an old photographer.

Hexanon 48mm/2 transplantation

It took me all day long today to transplant Hexanon 48mm/2 lens on SONY E-mount, very light weight has attained, 343gr in total elimination helicoid mechanism. Lens module antero-posterior movement is performed by lens holding collar with 5mm displacement, infinity to 1m closeup.
As for it's capability and potential, I'm fully satisfied in resolution, contrast and color balance.
This completed device would be brought out on coming Saturday for regular meeting at Hamadera Park.
It's interesting to know the result, this lens had not been evaluated well not because of it's performance but because of poor focusing system in Konica S2 camera body. I'll prove the fact.

Refrain from eating too much

Almost of the leaves on Hydrangea have been lost in this coldest season every year, but careful investigation proved that small but vigorous buds is preparing for new leaves and flowers. Even plants and vegetation have to good intention to live longer, so must I, geriatric, live healthy in good body condition.
Some opinion says that our life span has extended till 100 years old now, so we should have some idea to live former 50 years as an ordinary life and live residual 50 years for myself, to myself and of myself. On the other hand, it's relatively difficult to find new world to live for a much experienced geriatric at all.
Anyway, healthy body condition is first for old and young, keep on eyes that eating too much is the worst, the number of people to die because of hunger is far inferior to that of eating too much.

Konica EE Matic Lens

Hexanon 42mm/2.8 Triplet lens was in Konica EE Matic produced in 1967 at 13,300 jp yen at that time. Modified lens with Minolta MD Rokkor 50mm/1.7 has the lens unit Hexanon 40mm/2,8 instead, needles to say, 6 of original Gaussian glass parts had been removed remaining iris mechanical construction. Triplet lens unit is fixed inside of barrel fulfilling the requirement of infinity position that is just behind the iris. I know that moving the construction of iris has some tendency of wine barrel shape aberration, using Leica format on APSC takes effect to eliminate the phenomena.
Critical situation test proves that Triplet has innate disadvantage on the correction of aberrations, halation, ghost, double lines Bokeh, coma aberration, etc. In case of ordinary use, have I no complaint at all.
Hexanon 42 mm lens had been used in relatively unstable and lough condition in focusing procedure because of double image focusing distance measurement, but now, Digital live view enlarging system makes it possible to focus ultimately, it's like an incredible dream!
Though Konica EE Matic camera was destroyed as a cultural property, the heart, central part is survived, Hexanon lens has been reused now!

Modified Elmar 50/3.5 on APSC

In order to utilize on Elmar 50mm/3.5 old lens, Leitz original hood for Elmar 35mm/3.5 required more 42 mm extension for enough halation cutting under the condition of APSC image use. The extension length is defined under the condition of the barrel position of infinity and the iris is closed utmost.
My DIY work does not look so good but not so bad, but enough effect it has at all as shown in a picture, the quality of a pic is not second to ordinary 50 mm standard lens designed with Gaussian construction.
Also this Elmar has more potential to close up shooting to 1:5 ratio by extended barrel though illegal original use as this is.

New Year pics

Beginning of this year it's clear in the sky and climate condition is favorable.
I have been advocating only in natural art without any artificial processing, I've made up my mind to dedicate in artificial art also this year. Shooting condition would be actively conditioned including artificial lighting source, contemporary art is one of my preference.
A few lenses are prepared for close up shooting, Minolta MD Macro Rokkor 100 mm/f4 with extension tube, Leitz Elmar 50 mm/f3.5 and Leitz Macro Elmarit R 60 mm/2,8.
Old lens Elmar 50 mm requires extended hood for preventing Halation so to speak unnecessary light noise. The rate of hood extension is decided in the condition that lens barrel is in infinity position and iris is closed utmost. Especially, all the lenses for Leica format need hood extension when they were used on APSC image sensor or smaller ones. Hood is an indispensable method to obtain excellent transparency, it's a common sense among professionals. A capability and potential of some specific lens should be discussed after the condition of use is settled enough.
Ordinary Triplet lens should be paid more attention on halation light cut gently to bring out their good performance. Recent lens coating method is not always enough to eliminate halation phenomena.
The less glass material make it easy to light power pass through onto image sensor surface. On the other hand, least lenses are necessary to eliminate several abrasions, less glass lens module or multiple module, which to chose? I prefer the former one.

I happened to visit Osaka Air Port park yesterday in accordance with my son for passenger's airplane photo shooting. Though it was my first experience to choose the moving airplane as a target, I determined to aim at the situation of landing phase, just with tire smoke. At that critical moment, slat and flap are fully down, slanted by lateral wind fuselage is corrected immediately to parallel with the run way correcting both rudder and aileron. The skill of pilot is examined utmost at this very moment at all.
Minolta MC Tele-Rokkor 200 mm/f 4 was my choice on SONY alpha 6400 APSC format.
