Turning backward

Camera lens manufacturers conduct research and development in search of the best lens performance and sell them as high-performance lenses at relatively high cost.

Single focal length lenses were mostly researched during the silver halide film era 50 years ago, so the battle is now mainly focused on zoom lenses.

The number of constituent lenses has exceeded 10, and it has become large and heavy unavoidably.

Aspherical, high brightness, anomalous low dispersion, multi-layer coating, 3-color color correction, etc. All kinds of technology have been invested in lenses that "take good pictures" and are sold at high prices

On the contrary, I thought that old zoom lens might create a work with a different image utilizing a lens that produces flare, ghost, blur and distortion.

For that purpose, the lens obtained at the Yahoo auction is a Sigma Zoom θ-3 28-84 f3.5-4.5 junk product with "mold and mist." It was necessary to disassemble the module body from the front in order to wipe the fog on the front surface of the rear lens of the intermediate lens group.

The case of the intermediate module was glued and screwed, so there was no tool to hang it, and it was difficult to separate and open it.

Stopping down to f8 sharpens the image, but at f3.5 wide open it's still blurry and blurry.

In the future, I would like to create works that make use of this extraordinary characteristic.
