Yaris HV came to me by chance because my mischievous son throw it away and obtained Freed instead, it a long time for me to grasp such a sophisticated vehicle. As an usual manner, I inspected wheel alignment at first, I felt some discrepancy in it's alignment condition, unstable steering wheel neutral position while straight running. Leading to some ill-thrust setting, scaling was rear camber value at first, and thrust angle for the second procedure, rear total toe vector direction means thrust angle. It's a matter for regret that Yaris 2WD model does not have any adjustment construction for the establishment of wheel alignment at all, solid torsion bar axle does not accept any adjustment. The conclusion after at a loss is insertion of adjusting sim in the flange surfaces at knuckle portion, of course it a stupid manner to do that, but no idea except that. 2.5mm thickness iron washer insertion at 13:30' position resulted too much, so 1.00 mm thickness was calculated as a matter of fact, Bingo! So suddenly, steering became sticky at neutral position meaning Zero thrust angle was established. No external stimulation caused instability on the neutral steering position by the rough road surfaces or inclination. This specific steering feeling cannot be felt and understood until he or she has an actual situation. Even 1.00 mm thickness insertion between the knuckle surfaces, tightening bolts have discrepancy caused by inclination, periodical inspection and tightening procedure is required for the safety. Recent sophisticated vehicles has no room to adjust by the drivers or mechanics because of fully electric controlled system, the only way to do that is to make it narrower, tolerance, allowable assembly errors. Yes, establishment of Zero thrust angle is the most effective that driver can feel and enjoy motor life.
In order to measure camber value, total toe value and vector direction, mechanical pendulum device with 1719.75mm radius and RESER pointer level were constructed by DIY respectively.
